Courted surfaces agent email addresses from the MLS and uses ComposeAI to generate draft outreach for you. When you click the email link below a ComposeAI draft, Courted uses a mailto: link to open your email app with the message pre-loaded β so you can review and send in one click.
For this to work, your browser needs to know to open Gmail when it sees a mailto: link. Here's how to set that up.
Recommended setup: Google Chrome + Gmail.
This is the most stable and straightforward configuration. If you're on a different browser or email client, see the other set of set up articles β but if you have flexibility, Chrome + Gmail is what we'd suggest.
1. Type chrome://settings/handlers into your address bar and press enter.
2. If mail.google.com is listed under "Not allowed to handle protocols," click the 'x' to remove it from that section
3. Select "Sites can ask to handle protocols"
4. Close this tab.
5. Launch Gmail and you should now see a diamond icon at the right of the address bar. Click that, then click Allow. If you don't see the diamond icon to the right if the address bar, you may need to quit and relaunch Chrome for the change to take effect.
6. Go back to the handlers setting page (type chrome://settings/handlers into your address bar and press enter). mail.google.com should be listed under "email" on this page
7. Click the 3 dots to the right of mail.google.com and click "Set as default"
8. Head back to Courted, open any agent profile, generate an email with ComposeAI, and click the email link below the draft. It should now open directly in Gmail!
If it's still not working on Windows:
Windows tracks default apps separately from Chrome. Open Default Apps in your Windows Settings (search "Default Apps" in the Start menu), and confirm the MAILTO handler is set to Chrome:
Under Set a default for a file type or link type, search for 'mailto.'
Click on the Mail icon that pops up
Set the default mail app to Chrome
