Courted provides email addresses where available in the MLS, and provides drafts for outreach for you through our tool ComposeAI. If you set up your default email client correctly, you'll be able to send outreach from Courted in one click, directly from your inbox.
We recommend using Google Chrome as your browser and Gmail as your emailer, since that setup is the easiest!
Setting up Gmail
If you use Gmail as your primary email, set it as your default email client so that anytime you click on an email address, it opens up in Gmail! Follow the steps outlined in the video or in the article below!
1. Type chrome://settings/handlers into your address bar and press enter.
2. If mail.google.com is listed under "Not allowed to handle protocols," click the 'x' to remove it from that section
3. Select "Sites can ask to handle protocols"
4. Close this tab.
5. Launch Gmail and you should now see a diamond icon at the right of the address bar. Click that, then click Allow. If you don't see the diamond icon to the right if the address bar, you may need to quit and relaunch Chrome for the change to take effect.
6. Go back to the handlers setting page (type chrome://settings/handlers into your address bar and press enter). mail.google.com should be listed under "email" on this page
7. Click the 3 dots to the right of mail.google.com and click "Set as default"
8. Go back to Courted and try generating an email on any agent's profile using ComposeAI, click the email link below the generated email, and it should work!
9. If you run into trouble down the road – if you're on a Windows, open "Default Apps" on your computer (not in Chrome, this is a section of your Windows settings), scroll to and click on Chrome, and make sure under "MAILTO" that chrome/gmail is selected. For good measure, make sure chrome/gmail is the specified MAILTO handler for the Mail, Outlook, and Outlook (new) apps within Default apps as well.
