Setup takes about ten minutes. Work through the four steps below in order and you’ll be ready to prospect.
Step 1: Create your login
You should have received an email with instructions for setting up your account. Those same instructions are here:
Go to app.courted.io/signup
Click create an account
Sign up using the email address we provisioned for you — most likely the one you’ve been using with our team, or the one you asked us to set up
Set a password
Click the verification link in your inbox, and you should be in!
⚠️ Trouble getting in? Two things trip people up, and both have quick fixes.
“Invalid code” or an expired link. Clicking a verification link more than once can throw an error. Go to app.courted.io and log in with the email and password you just set. If you need a fresh code, request one and be sure to click the link in the most recent verification email.
“Account not authorized.” This almost always means you signed up with a different email than the one we provisioned. Message our team with the email you tried and we’ll get it updated.
Once you’re in, you’re using Courted. A quick-start checklist will appear in the platform — work through it during your first few days.
Bookmark the page now. Save the URL while you’re here so Connect is always one click away.
Step 2: Set your role
Click your profile icon in the top right, then Settings (or click here to access your settings directly). The first section, My role, is where you tell Connect who you are.
There are three fields, and each one does real work:
Job type. This determines which data the platform leads with on every agent profile you open. Loan officers and mortgage brokers see loan officer deal share and mortgage partner data first; title and escrow users see title company deal share and title partner data first.
NMLS Lender ID or Broker ID. Your company. Search by name or ID and select it from the results.
NMLS Agent ID. You, personally. Search by name or ID.
Click Save when all three are set.
Why the NMLS Agent ID matters so much. It’s how we match you to your own closed transactions, which powers three things: your Partner List gets built for you, your deal share figures are calculated correctly, and your mutual connections with agents get surfaced. Of everything on this page, this is the field worth getting right.
A quirk in the company field. After you select your company from the dropdown, the menu doesn’t always collapse on its own, which can hide the Save button. Click any empty space on the page to close it, then save.
Not a producing loan officer? Branch managers, supervisors, business development staff, and anyone else without a personal NMLS ID should choose the Mortgage company / lender job type. You’ll still get full access to everything — search, profiles, alerts, and outreach. The one difference is that your Partner List won’t build itself, since that’s generated from closed-loan history tied to a personal NMLS ID. You can add partners manually instead.
Step 3: Import your partners
Once your NMLS Agent ID is saved, Connect offers to build your Partner List from your own transaction history. Click Import.
We pull in every agent you’ve completed a transaction with in the last five years and add them to your Partner List as an Active partner. It takes a couple of minutes to populate.
Some of the names will surprise you. If you closed a deal together, they’ll appear — even if they never sent you a referral directly. The list is fully editable, so prune it and adjust anyone’s relationship stage as you go.
This import runs once. It’s a snapshot of the last five years, taken now. It won’t keep updating on its own — so when you close with a new agent down the road, move them from your Prospect List over to your Partner List yourself by updating their relationship stage.
Partner List came back empty? Head back into Settings, clear both your company and your NMLS Agent ID, save, then re-enter them. That re-triggers the import. If it still doesn’t populate, message us through the chat bubble — occasionally an NMLS ID doesn’t match cleanly on our side and we need to fix it by hand.
Step 4: Set up ComposeAI
ComposeAI writes personalized outreach to agents by drawing on three things:
The agent’s production and history — we already have this automatically
Details about you and your company — you provide this
Custom instructions — how you want your messages to sound (you also provide this)
The first one is handled. The other two are the difference between a draft that sounds like you and a draft that sounds like anybody.
Open Settings, then click ComposeAI in the left side panel. Or click here to access your ComposeAI settings directly .
First, tell ComposeAI about you
Fill in your Contact information so it appears correctly in every message ComposeAI produces. This is separate from your login details and won’t change them.
Under About you & your company, describe your services and what makes you different. Plain, unpolished text is completely fine, and copying straight from your website is fine too. You have up to 10,000 characters, so don’t be shy.
(Optional) Upload a PDF as a supporting document — a services overview, a team one-pager, anything describing what you do. It all becomes context ComposeAI can draw on.
The question to answer in the About you & your company box: why would an agent want to work with me instead of someone else? Be specific. “Great service and competitive products” describes every lender alive and gives ComposeAI nothing to work with.
Next, save one or two custom instructions
Custom instructions are prompts you use frequently and want to save — things like tone, message length, and how to close. Click Create and write one describing how you want your messages to sound.
Two that work well, as starting points:
Call to action — “Finish every concise message with an easy, low pressure call to action like scheduling 15 minutes with me to talk about the agent’s business and priorities.”
Tone — “Talk about my extensive experience, but always be warm, humble, and helpful.”
Last, set your defaults
Setting defaults is how you make sure your custom instructions always get used in every message.
Open ComposeAI defaults.
Under Select contact method, choose the format you use most — Phone call, Email, or Text.
Under Custom instructions, select the instructions you want applied to every draft. You can pick more than one.
Click Save.
Your ComposeAI is now set up to sound more like you, be specific about what you offer, and land better with agents.
Spend five minutes here, not thirty seconds. By far the most common complaint about AI-drafted outreach is that it sounds generic — and that’s almost always an empty About you box or a default that was never set. Five minutes now pays off in every message you send afterward.
You’re all set
Your account is configured, your Partner List is populated, and ComposeAI knows who you are. The natural next step is building your first prospecting list in Agent Search.
