Channel Management in Octo
Here at Alphaus Inc., we strive to ensure that all our features are interconnected. Our goal is not only to provide high-quality service but also to make our product more comprehensive and user-friendly for you, our valued users.
The feature we will be discussing here is linked to Alerts Management. If you haven't had the chance to read or learn about it yet, you can check out this article, Alerts Management or follow our Getting Started guide. But before we get into managing alerts, there’s a crucial step you need to complete and that is setting up your notification channels where your alerts will be sent.
In a general context, a notification channel in a cloud cost management tool serves as a critical mechanism for keeping users informed about important updates, alerts, and cost-related activities. By integrating with various communication platforms like email, Slack, SMS, and more, a notification channel ensures that users are promptly informed of significant events.
In Octo, the notification channels under the Channel Management feature work similarly. The purpose of this feature is to receive alerts from Octo through three main channels: email, Slack, and MS Teams. These channels will notify you of unexpected spikes in cloud spending or new saving opportunities, helping you stay on top of your cloud management.
How to Navigate Channel Management?
Locating the Channel Management Feature here in Octo is pretty straightforward. To help you set up your notification channels, follow these simple steps:
Log-in to your Octo Account. If you don’t have an account yet, click here.
On your Dashboard, click the gear icon located on the upper right corner of your screen.
Under the ‘NOTIFICATION’ settings, click the ‘Channel Management’.
Create a channel
Once you’ve located the Channel Management page, you can begin creating your notification channels. As mentioned earlier, it's crucial to create a channel first since alerts cannot be set up without one. This ensures that updates and notifications are properly organized and delivered, allowing you to stay informed and manage your cloud costs effectively.
Follow these steps to set up your notification channels:
Click on the settings icon in your dashboard.
Under notification settings, select ‘Channel Management.’
Configure notification channels for Slack, MS Teams, and Email. You can add multiple channels for each platform to ensure you receive alerts through your preferred methods.
