CoVet works with all practice management software, and there are several ways to move your information from one platform to the other.
Exporting Basics
"Exporting" simply means moving your finished records from CoVet into your practice management software or another application.
There are 3 main ways to export information from CoVet:
Copy & Paste (the most popular option)
Email
PDF Download or Print
Send
You can export from 2 places in CoVet:
Directly from the Record page
From the Export Center
This article shows you how to export records directly from the Record screen.
The same options are also available in the Export Center, which makes it easier for your team to keep track of each record's status.
Copy & Paste – Section by Section
This is the option most people use to quickly move records from CoVet into any practice management software.
After you create a record, you'll see a "Copy" button at the top right of every section. Click it to copy the text for that section, then paste it into any other software.
Important Note: Even if you record your consultations using the CoVet app on your phone or tablet, it's best to open CoVet in a web browser when you want to export.
We suggest keeping CoVet open in one window and your practice management software open in another window on the same device. That way, copying and pasting is quick and easy.
Copy & Paste – Entire Record
To make things even faster, you can copy the whole record at once. Just click the "Copy All" button at the top of the record.
This copies the entire record, with the section headers included. One click to copy, one click to paste, and you're done.
You can email any record from CoVet to yourself, your clinic, or your client. Scroll to the bottom of the record, type in the email address, and click "Send email."
The record arrives both in the body of the email and as a nicely formatted PDF attachment.
You can also add a note to send along with the email, which is handy when you're emailing a client. Please note that the person who receives the email won't be able to reply to you.
PDF Download / Print
There are two easy ways to get a clean, formatted PDF of your record, with section headers included. You can print it right away, or you can download it. Both options are explained below.
Print your record (web)
Printing is quick. You no longer need to download the file first and then find it on your computer. Here's how it works:
Open the record preview.
In the bar at the bottom of the preview, click the Print button. You'll find it between the Download button and the Send button.
The record opens as a PDF in a new browser tab.
Use your browser's print option to print it.
Because the file is not saved to your computer first, you don't have to go looking for it in your downloads folder. This is especially helpful when you're printing discharge summaries or records to hand to a client.
A few things to keep in mind:
The Print button is ready to use as soon as the preview finishes loading.
If your record is a discharge summary that includes extra attachments, such as Client Handouts, only the PDF you see in the preview will print. You'll need to print any other attachments separately.
Using a phone or tablet? The PDF opens in your device's browser or PDF viewer, where you can use the built-in print or share options.
Download your record as a PDF
You can also save the record as a PDF. Click the Download PDF button near the top of the record.
After a moment, a new screen opens showing the PDF. From there, use the download or print buttons in the top right corner of the page.
Changing the Export Status of a Record
The Export Center helps you and your team keep track of where each case stands at any time.
To change a record's status, click the badges at the very top of the Record screen.
Your change also appears in the badge at the top right of the record. You can change the status from the Export Center too, and it will update on the individual Record page as well.
For Review: The record hasn't been reviewed yet.
Ready for Export: The record has been reviewed and approved.
Exported: The record has already been exported.
You can also mark a record as Not for Export if you no longer want it to appear in the Export Center.
Important Note: Always review each record for completeness and accuracy before you export it, since it becomes part of the patient's permanent medical history.
