Accessing the Cozero Climate Action Platform

Your customer has invited you to access a free version of the Cozero Climate Action platform. Click the ‘Get Started’ button in the invitation email to begin.

After clicking, you'll be directed to the platform’s homepage, if you scroll down to the bottom you will find an FAQ to answer any initial question you might have. To start your carbon calculation, click the blue ‘Enter data’ button.

The first step is to select the relevant lifecycle steps you want to include in your assessment. If you’re unsure which to choose, refer to the linked page for more details.

After selecting the lifecycle steps, click ‘Save and continue’ to proceed.

Product Profile

The first required section is the product profile. Here, you’ll input key product details, including product name, unique identifiers, and functional units. In Table A you can find more information on the input fields.

Life cycle steps

Using the white + add new 'lifecycle step' data button you can add more input fields for additional input fields for the specific lifecycle step view you are in. Moreover, in Table B you can find more information on the input fields. In the top right of an input field grouping you can see the calculated emissions.

1. Raw materials acquisition

The next section covers raw materials acquisition. Here, you’ll input the raw materials needed to manufacture the product and the logistics details for their acquisition.

2. Production

This section is on any production related emissions. Examples may include electricity as well as water and fuel consumption used to manufacture the product. This also covers all waste generated during the production processes, e.g. product scraps and other discarded materials.

3. Packaging

This section is used to add any data on the packing materials used in your product, such as plastic or cardboard. Since all data falls under one category (production goods and material) you do not need to select the subcategory in this step.

4. Distribution and storage

Here you can add post-manufacturing distribution to the customer and storage activities, like third-party transport as well as energy consumption (e.g. heating, electricity) for storage facilities.

Table A

Fields marked with a * are required

Input field

Description

Enter the internal product code (e.g., A54321).

Note the product version (e.g., version 1.0) to capture updates in the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) over time.

Ensure all data inputs match this unit for accuracy. For example, producing 1 kg of roasted coffee requires 1.1 kg of raw coffee as input.

Specify the period the input data covers (e.g., 150 kWh of green electricity used in January to produce 1 kg of roasted coffee).

Product type

Select a product type from the dropdown (e.g., food and beverage → processed foods). Cozero will offer standard assumptions for this category to simplify data entry.

Responsible user

Assign a user from the list who is responsible for the product.

Tags

Use tags to track specific data points.

Input the product's origin. This origin will be auto-applied to each lifecycle step but can be adjusted for specific steps if necessary.

Table B

Fields marked with a * are required

Input fields

Description

Name*

Enter the name of the raw material or transport leg.

Category*

Choose between different categories, dependent on the lifecycle stage (Production materials or Purchased logistics.

Subcategory*

Based on your category, specify the subcategory (e.g., Metals and metallic products under Production materials or Air freight under Purchased logistics).

Type of data*

Select the type of available data (e.g., distance, quantity, spend, or measured direct CO2). Activity or primary data is recommended for the most accurate emissions estimate.

Activity*

Define the specific activity, which will determine the emission factor used in calculations.

Quantity / Direct CO2 emissions / Currency*

Once you have selected the activity, the quantity, direct CO2 emissions or currency field will pop up depending on the selected activity. Here you can input the specific data that is needed to calculate the emissions. Depending on the activity, multiple input fields might pop up for one activity with various units.

Activity origin*

Automatically set to match the product origin from you Product profile, but can be adjusted materials are sourced from different locations.

Supplier

Optional to add the supplier providing the raw material or logistics.

Sharing Your Data

After completing all the necessary data, click ‘Save and Continue.’ You will then be redirected to the homepage, where you can scroll down to view an overview of your product's footprint.

At this point, you can choose to share:

  • Detailed emissions for each lifecycle stage or simply provide the total footprint

  • Any additional information for your customer, such as verification statement

All data is protected under Cozero's Data Processing Agreement, and nothing will be shared without your explicit consent. Your customer will only be able to see the data once the data is submitted.

Once the data is submitted, your customer will be notified that your Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) has been shared. They can either accept or reject the PCF value. If accepted, you will receive an email and the customer can use the PCF for their own emissions calculations. If rejected, you can review the data and adapt the emission factor if necessary.
