Professional Registration Check – NMC

NMC: Nursing and Midwifery Council

Professional registration checks are essential and need to be continuously verified. At Credentially, we have an integrated system which checks a professional registration number weekly against the NMC database.

There are two ways to enter your number into the system:

· During onboarding

OR

· In the 'Professional registration' tab

Credentially Tip: Enter your PIN using uppercase letters instead of lowercase symbols. E.g. 99A9999A.

Once the correct PIN number is provided, Credentially will instantly check the registration against the NMC database and you will see the status 'REGISTERED' on your screen.

If the registration is found, there will be a green light and the 'compliant' status next to the name.

NMC History:

There is also the ability to track historical NMC data and statuses. If you want to look through the check's history, click on the 'View History' button. Check dates and statuses will be displayed.

NMC Statuses:

- Not currently practising,

- Removed by a fitness to practise (FtP) panel,

- Suspended by an FtP panel,

- Voluntarily removed,

- Interim suspension order,

- Conditions of practice order,

- Interim conditions,

- Undertakings,

- Sanction pending (see the screenshot below),

- FAILED/LAPSED this is where the user has not made payment or completed revalidation
or Credentially received status, which is not defined in the list of known statuses.

Also, it has a non-compliant impact on compliance status.

· NO NMC number (PIN) means that the NMC number is not entered on Credentially; it has a non-compliant impact on compliance status.

· NMC NOT FOUND means that the NMC number is not found in the register; it has a non-compliant impact on compliance status.
