Academic Guidance and University Admissions at CGA: A Guide for Students
Updated over a week ago

As a student at CGA, you're likely considering further education at a university. This guide is designed to help you understand the university admissions process at CGA and the support available to you.

Getting University Admissions Support at CGA

At CGA, we're dedicated to supporting you throughout the application process for universities worldwide. When you join our school, we highly recommend scheduling an academic and university planning session with our University Admissions Counsellors.

Make sure to maintain regular contact with Mr Fan and your teachers regarding your university goals.

You can schedule a meeting with the counsellors via the following links:

The Application Process

Remember, application requirements can vary greatly between countries and specific universities. In general, you'll need to successfully complete high school with at least 3 A Levels (if you are an Edexcel pathway student) or a US high school diploma.
Highly selective universities might have additional requirements, so make sure to contact our counsellors to understand the specific requirements of your chosen institutions.

Requirements for US and UK Universities

If you're applying to a US university, they'll typically consider your academics, extracurricular activities, and the content of your application itself. Both your internal (CGA exams) and external (Pearson, CIE, AP) grades are crucial.

For UK universities, they'll focus on your academic performance, supercurricular/extracurricular activities related to your chosen area of study, your personal statement, and possibly interviews. You should strive to gain a deep understanding of your subject through extracurricular activities and craft a compelling personal statement.

Predicted Grades and Transcripts

At CGA, we issue predicted grades for A Level students twice during the academic year. You'll receive these grades via email.

For transcripts, which might be required for university entrance or other purposes, contact Mr Fan and Ms Worby.

*Note: You'll need to give us at least 2 weeks of notice.

Choosing Your Courses

Selecting the right courses is vital for your university application. Consider your career and university goals when deciding on courses. CGA offers resources like webinars, a curriculum guide, a course choice guide, and meetings with subject teachers, academic deans, and university counsellors to aid in your decision.

Researching Universities and Requesting Reference Letters

We encourage you to research the general requirements for your target countries and specific universities. If you need additional assistance, don't hesitate to schedule a meeting with Mr Fan.

For reference or recommendation letters, a request form can be sent out. Thoughtfully consider which teachers you'd like to write letters for you, and what you'd like these letters to convey about your strengths and university goals.

Remember, the more informed and prepared you are, the smoother your university application process will be. We're here to support you every step of the way.
