What to Expect

Skills tests let employers figure out what you already know and allow you to prove you have the necessary skills to succeed in the role. The Computer and Internet Skills Assessment is an assessment of basic computer skills. It measures proficiency with using Internet browsers and common desktop applications such as email and word processing programs.

How to Prepare

The Computer & Internet Skills Assessment is designed to demonstrate your proficiency with using Internet browsers and common desktop applications. As such, there’s no specific study required before completing this assessment. The best thing you can do to prepare is to ensure you’re in a comfortable, distraction-free environment, and that you have read all the instructions carefully.

Troubleshooting

Please note that this assessment requires the use of a keyboard and mouse, meaning you will require a desktop or laptop device to complete your assessments.

If you’ve ensured that your device meets the system and browser requirements and you are still experiencing issues, we suggest trying the following:

  • Check your browser version is up to date by checking in browser settings, or by using the following site: https://www.whatismybrowser.com/ (Please go through with the update if available)

  • Ensure there are no file transfers (downloading/uploading) occurring

  • Pause/close any video streams (Youtube, Netflix, etc)

  • Have as few windows and tabs open as possible

  • Use physical (ethernet) connection if possible

  • Update/Restart computer

  • Update/Restart router

  • Move locations for better reception for Hotspot/stronger network

  • Switch browser

If issues persist, please try accessing the assessment via a different device or connection (for example, mobile/hotspot).
