Finance Charges shows all interest and late fees that have been assessed on customer accounts with overdue balances. If your company charges customers for paying late, this is where those charges are tracked, reviewed, and managed.

What You Can Do Here
View all finance charges assessed, organized by customer or by date
Drill into a customer account to see which invoices had charges assessed
Review the details of any individual finance charge, including the rate and the calculation
Remove a charge or create an adjustment when a charge was assessed in error
The Two Views
By Account Shows each customer who has had finance charges assessed on their account. Click any customer to see the invoices on which charges were applied. Click an individual invoice to see the full charge detail â the date assessed, the balance the charge was calculated on, the rate, and the resulting charge amount.

By Assessed Date Shows finance charges organized chronologically by the date they were assessed rather than by customer. Use this view when you need to review all charges posted in a specific period, such as reviewing what was assessed at the end of last month.
Reading a Finance Charge Detail
When you click into an individual invoice from the By Account view, a detail panel opens. It shows two things.
The Invoice Summary gives you the context â the invoice number, the original amount, the balance that was overdue when the charge was calculated, and the due date.
The Charge Details table shows the specific charges assessed against that invoice â how many charges have been applied, when each was assessed, the rate used, and the amount. An invoice can have multiple charges if it has been overdue across more than one billing cycle.

Common Situations
A customer is asking why their balance is higher than their invoice total. Finance charges may have been assessed on their account. Go to Finance Charges â By Account, find the customer, and review the charges on their invoices. You can show them exactly when each charge was assessed and what rate was applied.
A finance charge was assessed on an account that should have been exempt. Open the charge detail from By Account â customer â invoice. Use the Remove charge option in the detail panel. If the charge has already been applied to the customer's balance, you may also need to create an adjustment to offset it.
You need to report on how much in finance charges was collected this month. The Total Charged KPI card on the Finance Charges page shows the total for the current period. For a detailed breakdown by date, use the By Assessed Date view and filter by the date range you need.
You want to see which customers were charged most recently. Go to By Assessed Date and review the most recent entries, or go to By Account and sort by the most recent charge date.
