You can send private messages to individual supporters, or multiple supporters at once, via your project dashboard. It's also good to know that you can message supporters who have pledged anonymously; their names are only hidden from the public, not the project owner.
*Note that Crowdfunder automatically sends a thank-you message and receipt to each supporter when they make a pledge to your project.
Before you send anything, we recommend that you check what messages you can send to your supporters. The messaging feature in your dashboard should not be used for marketing or project updates. However, sending thank-you messages is always permitted, even to supporters who have opted out of marketing communications.
If you're running a multiplier project, please scroll down to the bottom of this article to find out how to message both your supporters and your fundraisers' supporters.
FOR ALL PROJECT OWNERS:
Please note that any replies you receive from supporters will be sent to the email address you registered with us when setting up your project. The same applies to messages received via your project page β these will also go to your email address.
The following function is for sending messages via the platform only. For security and privacy reasons, you cannot directly access or extract supporters' email addresses. All communications must be sent through the platform's messaging tools described below.
Get started by logging into your project dashboard and scroll down to the 'supporters' tab in the left-hand column. This is what you'll see:
If you'd like to send an individual message, click on the 'send message' button next to the user you want to message privately.
If you'd like to send a message to multiple supporters at the same time, tick the box next to each supporter you wish to message, then click 'message selected'.
If you'd like to message all supporters at the same time, simply click 'message all'. Alternatively, if you'd like to communicate something about your project publicly, you could post a project update. Public updates are displayed on your project page and emailed to supporters who have opted in for marketing communications.
Once you've made your selection, you'll see the following screen where you can type and send your message.
Don't worry about keeping track of all the messages you've sent. Your project dashboard does it for you. All you need to do is click on 'view sent history'.
You can use the search function (pictured above) to message supporters who've pledged on a specific reward. Use the drop down menu next to the search bar to find the reward you're looking for. You can also search by typing a supporter's name or key words into the box.
FOR PROJECT OWNERS RUNNING A MULTIPLIER
If you want to send a message to all supporters, including those who've pledged on your project via fundraisers, you can do this in the Supporter section of your dashboard. You also have the option to turn this function on and off.
Once this function is turned on, you will have full visibility of all supporters. You can select them (as explained above) in order to send individual or group messages.
PLEASE NOTE: If your project closes unsuccessfully, all supporter data is removed from your project dashboard, so you won't be able to contact any of your supporters as outlined in the guide above. However, you will be able to publish a project update to communicate a message that can be read by anyone who visits your page.
