What is a stretch target?
Most projects on Crowdfunder have to option to display a new, bigger target after reaching 100% of the target that was originally set.
Some key things to remember - stretch targets are optional, can be updated or removed at any time and will only appear on your project page after it reaches that original target.
When a stretch target is displayed on a project page it also updates your funding bar, showing the money raised above your original target in bright pink.
📝 Note: If you have created a fundraiser to collect donations for a personal cause, you will not have the option to add a stretch target.
How do I add a stretch target?
Once your project is live, you'll be able to add a stretch target from the Overview section of your live dashboard.
When your project reaches 100% of the target that was originally set, it will automatically update to display the stretch target.
After adding a stretch target, you can still change it at any time. So if you think your stretch target is too low or too high you can click the button to edit it.
When adding a stretch target, think carefully about how to announce it to your community of supporters. Take the time to explain your intentions, your motivations, and your plans. Remember to recognise what you’ve achieved together so far!
Why add a stretch target?
If your project is close to reaching its original target, it's a good idea to set stretch target to keep your supporters motivated towards that new goal. It's the best way to show potential supporters that your project isn't finished and you're still keen to raise more.
I've chosen the All or nothing funding method, so what happens if I don't hit my stretch target?
Projects on All or nothing funding do not need to hit their stretch target to be classed as successful. Providing the project has reached 100% of the original target, the project will be classed as successful.
Can a project raise more than its stretch target?
Yes, it can! Projects remain live on Crowdfunder until their funding deadline — which means it’s possible for projects to overshoot their target before the project ends.
