If your project hasn't gone live yet, or if it is live but has not received any pledges, then you can delete your project by clicking on the 'My Projects' button in the top-right corner of the page, then clicking the Bin Icon under the project you want to delete.
Additionally, you may also request to archive your project, especially if it has not yet received pledges. Archiving will remove the project from public view.
Managing Fundraisers Accidentally Published
If your fundraiser has gone live by mistake, you can take action to reset it to draft. This ensures the project is no longer publicly visible while you make adjustments or evaluate its scope. Remember to also verify that no duplicate drafts with identical names or details exist in your project list. Deleting such duplicates can help avoid confusion or errors when finalizing future updates.
Restarting a Live Campaign
If your campaign is live and has already received donations, direct deletion is not an option. Instead, you can restart your campaign by:
Refunding All Supporters: Process refunds for all supporters who contributed to the live campaign.
Closing and Resetting the Campaign: After completing refunds, the project can be closed and reverted to a temporary draft status.
Relaunch the Campaign: Update the campaign details and launch it again with the desired timeline.
Deleting a Live or Closed Project
If your project is live and has received pledges or has already closed, you’ll need to contact our Support team to request deletion. Please email support@crowdfunder.co.uk.
Steps to Delete a Completed Campaign
Provide a Reason for Removal: Crowdfunder requires a detailed reason for removing your campaign.
Ensure Payout Completion: Verify that all payout transactions related to the campaign are processed and finalised.
Understand Limitations: Be aware that removing the campaign will:
Disable any communication from supporters through the Crowdfunder campaign page.
Prevent further communication with supporters via the dashboard.
❗ Why We May Not Delete a Successfully Closed Project Immediately
There are several important reasons why we may keep your project visible, even after it has ended:
Transparency & Public Record: Crowdfunding is built on trust. A successfully funded project serves as a public record of the commitments you’ve made. Keeping the project page accessible allows backers to revisit the original description, rewards, and updates, ensuring accountability.
Accountability to Backers: As a creator, you have a responsibility to deliver what you promised. Your project page acts as a reference for these commitments. If it were deleted, backers would lose access to essential information, making it harder to track progress or resolve concerns.
Legal & Financial Record-Keeping: Crowdfunding involves financial transactions, and we’re required to maintain accurate records for legal, accounting, and dispute resolution purposes. Deleting a project could interfere with record-keeping for payouts, fees, chargebacks, and other financial matters.
Platform Integrity & Fraud Prevention: Keeping past projects visible (successful or not) helps us protect our community. This prevents situations where a creator could remove a campaign, relaunch under a different identity, and mislead potential backers. In addition, Crowdfunder retains certain project-related data for at least seven years to comply with legal and financial record-keeping obligations.
Communication Limitations After Deletion: Deleting a campaign will disable any communication through the Crowdfunder campaign page or dashboard.
If you still wish to request deletion after reviewing the above, please get in touch with our Support team via support@crowdfunder.co.uk.
Search Engine De-indexing Limitations
While Crowdfunder can initiate a request to Google to remove deleted project pages from its search results, the actual de-indexing process is managed entirely by Google. The timeline for removal may vary based on their policies and measures.
Data Retention Policies
Even after project deletion, certain personal and project-related information will be retained by Crowdfunder for a minimum of seven years or as required by law. This ensures compliance with legal obligations and facilitates potential dispute resolutions.
Additionally, if you have initiated a GDPR-compliant request to delete your data, Crowdfunder will ensure the removal of your account, project, and personal data from their systems. In such cases, Crowdfunder may also assist with submitting de-indexing requests to search engines on your behalf, although the timing of the removal depends on the search engine's policies.
