I didn't receive a pledge confirmation. Did my payment go through?

What to do if you do not receive a pledge confirmation email.

Updated this week

If you’ve made a pledge or donation but haven’t received a confirmation email, don’t worry, it’s often a simple issue. Below are the most common reasons this happens and how to fix them.

1. Email Address Errors

Possible issue: You entered your email address incorrectly when making your pledge.

  • If you saw the “Thank you!” confirmation page but didn’t receive the email titled “You just backed [Project Name]”, your email may have been misspelled.

  • Check that the email in your Crowdfunder account matches the one you used when pledging. You can correct it in the Account section.

  • If you can’t log in because of the typo, contact us at support@crowdfunder.co.uk or message the support chatbot (bottom right of the site).
    Include:

    • Name and email address you believe you used

    • Amount pledged

    • Last 4 digits of your payment card

    • Link to the project

2. Email Went to Junk/Spam

Possible issue: The confirmation email was delivered, but your email provider flagged it as spam.

  • Check your Junk or Spam folder.

  • If the email is there, mark it as “Not Spam” so future emails arrive in your inbox.

3. Email Sent to a Different Address

Possible issue: You pledged on behalf of someone else.

  • If you entered your own email during checkout, the confirmation was sent to you (not the recipient).

  • If you added the recipient’s details in the “This is a gift” section, the project owner may contact them directly.

  • If unsure, reach out to the project owner through the project page to confirm or update the recipient’s contact details.

4. Payment Didn’t Go Through

Possible issue: You didn’t reach the “Thank you!” confirmation page or received an error message.

  • Check your bank statement to see if funds were deducted.

  • Occasionally, you might see a “pledge declined” notification even if the payment went through. This can happen if a failed attempt is retried and processed successfully.

Troubleshooting steps: Some common reasons for payment failures include:

  • Insufficient funds in the payment account

  • Expired or outdated card information

  • Banking restrictions preventing certain online transactions

  • Technical errors during processing

  • Verify your card details:

    • Card number

    • Cardholder name

    • Expiry date

    • Security code

    • Postcode

  • Enter pledge amounts as whole numbers only (e.g., 10 instead of 10.00).

  • Contact your bank to ensure:

    • No holds or restrictions are in place

    • Your card allows foreign transactions (if pledging to an overseas project)

    • Prepaid or debit cards have enough funds

    • Large pledges won’t be blocked by authorisation checks

  • Try using a different card if issues persist.

5. How to Check Your Pledge Status

  • Log in and open the dropdown menu next to your profile icon.

  • Click “My pledges” to see your pledge history.

  • Click the “+” next to any pledge to view or manage it.
