Crowdfunder works with national and regional partners to offer +Extra funding for eligible projects. Here's how to check if your project qualifies and how to apply.
✅ What is +Extra Funding?
+Extra funding is additional support from funding partners that can boost your project. You’ll be matched to relevant opportunities based on:
Your organisation type
Your project category
The postcode of your project (required for matching)
This information is what you enter in your project basics section when creating a new Crowdfunder project.
ℹ️ Note: Personal causes, charity profiles, charity fundraisers, and prize draws are not eligible to apply for +Extra funding.
💡 How to Apply
🛠 If Your Project is in Draft:
Head to your Project Page section in the dashboard.
Look for an +Extra funding pop-up at the bottom of your screen.
Click ‘Find out more’ to view matched funds.
You can also find this in the final stage of project creation:
On the right-hand side, under +Extra funding, click ‘Find out more’.
🚀 If Your Project is Live:
Go to your Project Dashboard.
Click the +Extra funding tab on the left.
You'll see the funds you’re matched with.
Click ‘Apply’ to go to the application form.

❤️ If You Have a Charity Profile Page:
Charity profile pages can’t apply for +Extra funding directly. But you can still create a project that qualifies.
Here’s how:
Click ‘My charity’ in the top-right of the Crowdfunder website.
Click ‘+ New project’ to create a new fundraising project.
Follow the steps above to match and apply for +Extra funding.
⚠️ Before You Apply
Click ‘Show full criteria’ on each application form.
Make sure your project fully meets the eligibility requirements—not all matched funds will be suitable.
Include the +Extra funding amount in your project target, as partner funds count toward your overall goal.
💬 What Happens After You Apply?
If your application is successful, the funding partner will contact you to confirm the next steps and release of funds. It can take up to a couple of weeks to be notified of a decision, so factor this into your campaign timeline.
Some funds may have certain conditions you need to meet before they will approve your application, so be sure to check the criteria. For example, the Plymouth City Change Fund criteria state:
To secure a pledge from the Fund, you will need to do the following:
1. Apply to, and be approved for, the Fund.
2. Receive a provisional pledge from the Fund, by reaching at least 25% of your fundraising target from at least 25 unique supporters*.
3. Receive the Fund pledge by reaching at least 100% of your fundraising target.
Therefore, the application will not be accepted and will not receive a pledge from them until the project raises 25% from 25 supporters.
📝 Important Reminders
Always check the eligibility criteria of a fund.
Only certain project types are eligible to apply.
If you don’t see the +Extra funding section, you may be on the wrong project setup and need us to change this for you, so please send us an email at support@crowdfunder.co.uk, and we can assist!
