Financial Guide for Charity Profiles

(For Registered Charities)

Updated over a month ago

When creating your Charity Profile on Crowdfunder, you’ll need to complete the Financials setup and get verified before you can go live and start raising money. Here’s a breakdown of what’s required to get your charity profile verified and active.

Setting Up Your Financials

1. Registered Charity

If you are running the project as a registered charity (not registered as a business with Companies House), you should choose the Registered Charity option. In this case, you will need to provide:

  • Personal details for yourself or another individual associated with the charity

  • This individual must be authorised to represent the charity

You will also need to submit a government-issued ID and proof of address (e.g., utility bill, bank statement) for the person submitting the profile. This ensures we can verify the identity of the individual behind the project.

2. Registered Business

If your charity is also registered as a business with Companies House, you should select the Registered Business option. You will need to enter:

  • Business name

  • Business address

  • Company number (issued by Companies House)

  • Business bank details

In addition to these details, we will also require the following documents to verify your business:

  • A document showing your business name, address, and company number (this can be downloaded from Companies House)

  • Details for anyone with 25% or more ownership of the business (e.g., directors, shareholders). You may need to upload proof of address and government-issued ID for each person with significant ownership.

Why Do We Need Personal Details?

We ask for personal details to verify the identity of the individual behind every project and charity profile on Crowdfunder. This person must be authorised to represent the charity and should be able to provide government-issued ID and proof of address, if required.

You can use a trustee's details or anyone else who has the authority to act on the charity’s behalf for this purpose.

How Long Will Verification Take?

Once you’ve uploaded your documentation, verification typically takes between 5 minutes and 3 hours. However, depending on the volume of submissions, it can sometimes take up to 2 working days for your documents to be processed.

Since the verification process is managed by our payment provider, we cannot expedite this timeline. Please plan accordingly and be patient while your verification is processed.
