Use the Next Round feature to easily send your participants from one Experience to another, such as multiple rounds of trivia without requiring them to enter a different Experience Code for a different game or manually edit the URL in their browser to navigate to an external website.
Triggering the Next Round will move both current participants and future participants as they join or return to the original Experience. You can also set up Next Round to only send the top-ranking players and teams to the next Experience with Tournament Mode.
By using this feature, you can create different types of multi-dimensional Experiences such as:
Trivia Games with multiple and bonus rounds
Multi-day trivia events
Sending your participants to an exit Poll after completing a Trivia Game Experience
Sending participants to you, your client, or your sponsor's homepage after completing the Experience
Experience Dashboard with no Next Round set
A Multi-Round Trivia Game Example
For example, this feature lets you create several different Trivia or Bingo rounds by creating separate Experiences for each round and selecting the next Experience from the Next Round dropdown. Upon reaching the end of one Trivia Round Experience and showing the final score for the round (Show Rankings (R)) and the overall score (Show Multi-Game Trivia Rankings (M)), you can then send players to the next round without them having to enter in a new Experience Code or URL.
The next Trivia Game Experience would be ready in the "initial" state. Once you go to the Next Round, you can Start the Next Trivia Round Experience.
How Next Round Works
You should set the Next Round while setting up your Experience and before your actual event. Once you've set a destination, the Go to Next Round button will light up. When you click Go to Next Round, Crowdpurr tells your participants to "jump" to the selected Experience or URL. If you have participants who arrive late after you've already moved on to the Next Round, or if any of your participants navigated away from Crowdpurr on their mobile device when you sent them to the Next Round, they will automatically join everyone else upon returning or joining your original Experience.
You can send participants to the Next Round at any time regardless if an Experience is LIVE or not. Upon sending them to the Next Round, your participants will join the Next Round in whatever state the destination Experience is in - just as if they had manually visited the Next Round.
Can I send my participants to the Next Round automatically? Yes! When running Fully Automatic and Crowd Controlled Polls and Trivia Games, your Next Round will be triggered automatically. Fully Automatic Experiences will trigger the Next Round after it finishes automatically, while Crowd Controlled Experiences (and looping Fully Automatic Experiences) will send individual participants to the Next Round after they've answered every question.
Once you've triggered the Next Round, your original Experience will remain "linked" until you manually reset the Next Round, or reset your original Experience altogether. Clicking Go to Next Round will send current participants to the destination, and any new participants who join the original Experience will be brought to the Next Round as well. It is impossible to visit the original Experience after triggering the Next Round unless you remove the triggered Next Round or reset your Experience.
What if I only want certain players to advance in a Trivia Game? With the Tournament Mode setting, you can set up your Trivia Game so that only the top-ranking players advance. You can choose from Individual Rankings, Team Rankings, Multi-Game Rankings, or Survivor Status... The choice is yours!
Setting the Next Round
Setting the Next Round is as simple as clicking the green Edit button, and selecting your Experience from the Select Experience dropdown.
To set the Next Round:
Step 1. Locate Next Round Box
Go to the Experience Dashboard for your Experience. Under the Experience Status Bar, click the green Edit button with a pencil icon:
Next Round box with no set Crowdpurr Experience
Step 2. Select the Next Crowdpurr Experience
Select one of your other Crowdpurr Experiences, or select the External URL option and type in the URL for your destination.
Selecting a Crowdpurr Experience as the Next Round
Inserting an External URL as the Next Round
Step 3. Next Round Set
That's all! Your Experience is now ready to move on to the Next Round.
Next Round feature is ready to be triggered and move players to the Classroom Poll
You can repeat this process for each round of trivia you've created including bonus rounds, etc.
Are you using the Next Round Feature on Fully Automatic Mode Experiences?
When you have a Fully Automatic Mode (non-looping) Trivia Game or Poll that ends, it will automatically go to the Next Round and begin the next Experience if the set destination is also a Fully Automatic Mode Experience. If the rest of your set destinations are all Fully Automatic Mode Experiences, then you'll have a completely fully automatic sequence of Experiences!
Tournament Mode - Sending Top Ranking Players to the Next Round
When using Next Round in a Trivia Game, you also have the option of advancing only top-ranking players to the next trivia game. Click the green Edit button next to "All Players will advance" to open the Tournament Mode settings.
Uncheck the All Players Advance option to enable the other settings. You can then set how many winning players or teams you would like to move on when you trigger your Next Round.
Selecting the type of players to move using the Tournament Mode
You can select which rankings type to use to determine the players from the rankings dropdown menu. In this example, we are not using the Multi-Game Rankings, and the Trivia Game is set to Individual Mode under Team Modes, so those relevant options are disabled. In a Survivor Trivia Game, you can select whether you want Survivors or Eliminated players to move on to the Next Round.
Once your Tournament Mode settings are configured properly, click Save.
Only the Top 10 Individual Players will advance to the next round.
Once the Next Round is triggered, any players who qualify will move on, while players who don't qualify will be notified.
What if my players are tied? Can I set up a tiebreaker round?
In order to avoid ties, we recommend using Decreasing Points Mode and setting the point value to 100 points or higher for Trivia Games. That said, they can still happen.
If there are any tied scores at the cutoff in your Tournament Mode, all tied players/teams will be brought through to the Next Round. So, if the player in 9th place has 50 points, and there are two players tied at 10th place with 40 points, everyone in 9th place and above will be sent to the Next Round, as well as the players tied for 10th.
The same applies if you have multiple tied scores. So, if you have 4 players tied for 9th place, they would all be brought to the Next Round, while the unlucky player in 13th place would be left behind.
If you would like to send those tied players to a separate Tiebreaker round, first you would simply set the Tournament Mode settings to send the top 9 players to the Next Round and trigger it. Then, change the Next Round to a separate Tiebreaker Trivia Game you've set up ahead of time, and set the Tournament Mode to send the top 10 players there. Once the tie is broken, use Next Round again to reunite the winning player(s) with everyone who has already been sent to the next round.
Tournament Mode settings will only affect active players! If a player qualifies for the next round under the Tournament Mode settings but has navigated away from your Experience when the Next Round is triggered, they will not be brought to the Next Round. Be sure to inform your players that leaving the Trivia Game before advancing may result in them missing out on future rounds!
Tournament Mode settings do not apply to autonomous playback modes!
If you set your Trivia Game to the Crowd Controlled Mode or Fully Automatic Mode with Restart Experience Automatically enabled, the Tournament Mode settings will be disabled. Doing so would give an unfair advantage to players who finish the Trivia Game early on. For example, the first 10 players to complete the game would all move on, no matter how many points later players earn.
Activating the Next Round
Once your Next Round is set, you can click the Go to Next Round button at any time. This will bring up a pop-up notification to verify that you're ready to move on to the Next Round.
Go To Next Round confirmation module
Once you click the purple Go To Next Round button on the popup, all of your participants will instantly load the Experience you have set. Your Experience Dashboard and Presentation View (if open) will also instantly update and load the selected Experience. You can then press the Start button on the newly loaded Experience and your players will start playing the next Experience (the next Trivia Round for example).
If you set an external URL for your Next Round, your Experience Dashboard and Presentation View will not change when it is triggered.
Chaining Experiences together with the Next Round feature. It's even possible to chain many Experiences together using Next Round. For example, you can set Experience 1's Next Round to Experience 2, then set Experience 2 to Experience 3, then Experience 3 to Experience 4, etc. The Next Rounds will send any current and future participants from Experience 1 all the way to Experience 4, so you can be sure new and late participants won't get lost in a prior Experience when advancing through your rounds.
NOTE: When you trigger your Experience to move on to its Next Round, the selected destination Experience will deactivate its Next Round if it was already triggered. This prevents your participants from being sent through a chain of Next Rounds unintentionally if the Next Round has been previously triggered on a target destination Experience.
Using Tournament Mode will not apply to future participants! If you set your Trivia Game to only send the winning players or winning teams to the Next Round, future players (or any returning players) will not be sent to the Next Round.
Resetting a Triggered Next Round
After triggering the Next Round, you'll be brought to the Experience Dashboard of the selected destination Experience. Any participants that try to join your original Experience will instead go to the selected destination Experience. This is typically the desired behavior as there is no reason for participants to access the previous Experience (e.g. if you're bringing trivia players to "Round 2" of your overall Trivia Game, you wouldn't want players to be able to access "Round 1" if you're playing a live game where everyone should be in sync).
Next Round feature has already been set to move players to the next Experience.
The Status Bar will also tell you which Experience players have been moved to.
However, if you want to reset the Next Round after triggering it, such as if you were practicing switching Experiences, testing your workflow, and/or you made a mistake, do the following:
Go to the Experience Dashboard for the original Experience you sent to the Next Round.
Click on the blue Remove Triggered Next Round button to reset the Next Round.
Additionally, when resetting or restarting an Experience, if it has a triggered Next Round, it will be reset automatically.
Helpful Tip: Before starting a Trivia Experience with multiple rounds, make sure all of your various Experiences and Bonus Rounds are reset and in the initial Ready to Start state. This will ensure the first question's Question Timer of the next round starts when you press the Play button on the Experience Dashboard. It will also automatically reset any triggered Next Rounds that were previously set on the various trivia rounds.
