The Question Notes feature allows you to share additional information about your questions or answers during your Experience. Using our rich-text header you can add headers, paragraphs, hyperlinks, lists, and image content to supplement your questions and answers.

Examples of Question Notes

Question Notes can be used to:

  • Add supplementary educational material that further explains the concept of the question or answers

  • Add additional facts to back up a tricky trivia question's correct answer that the audience may challenge you on!

  • Add fun content like funny images or text that enhances the question or its answers

  • Add private notes just for the host - Question Notes don't have to be displayed to your crowd!

  • Add "content cards" that share any information you want your crowd to know such as when the next trivia game will be, what the prize is, or any additional information you want to share!

Adding a Question Note

To add a Question Note, start on the blue Questions tab on the Experience Dashboard. Select the question to add a Question Note and scroll down to the Question Notes section on the lower right.

In this example, the trivia question is What is the 10th most widely-planted grape in the world? Let's say we want to give our players a brief history lesson about the correct answer, which in our case is Pinot Noir. That additional content can be added to the Question Notes editor. After adding the text, the editor automatically saves the input.

Adding Headers Using Text Size Options

Our rich-text HTML text editor allows you to add different formats to different sections within your Question Note. For example, you can use Header 1 to add the largest style text header, while you can use the Paragraph style to add regular-sized paragraph text. The following pictures illustrate how to add a header using Header 1 for the main title and Header 2 for a subtitle using the Question Notes feature.

Next, we'll add a body of text using the Paragraph text style, which is set as the default text size.

Adding an Image

To add an image to a Question Note, you must simply copy and paste your desired image's URL. You can even add an additional description or custom width size for the picture. Since our picture was a little bigger than we'd prefer, we'll set its custom width to 300 px.

You should now see your added image along with any other text or content you've already added to the Question Note box.

Need to make a change to your image? If you'd like to change the Description or the Width, double-click on the added image to pull up the same Insert Image pop-up dialog. You can even replace the image entirely by pasting a new image URL.

A dialog will open up and prompt you to fill out the following basic information:

Link Options

Description

URL

This is the URL for the website you'd like to direct your participants to if they click or touch the link.

Text

This will be the text your participants will see on the Question Note.

Title (Optional)

This will be the text your participants will see while hovering over the link.

Target (Optional)

This specifies where to open up the link such as in a new browser window. You can type in _blank to set the link to open in a new tab. By default, any added link will automatically open in the same tab.

If you've filled out the first two fields (URL and Text), your link will work properly. The last two text fields are more advanced functions that you are not required to configure for a link to work on the Question Notes.

Text Alignment

The next series of icons are text alignment options you can use to change the position of your text within the Question Note.

Text justification options

By default, Question Note text is usually set to be left-aligned. However, you can also choose from the following options:

  • Left Aligned (default)

  • Centered

  • Right Aligned

  • Justified

Unordered List and Ordered List

These next two icons allow you to insert bullet points for an unordered list or you can even insert a numbered list with numbers starting from 1.

If you have general information and would like to separate your text into plain bullet points, then the unordered list would work well for you. On the other hand, if you'd like to explain a process using numbered steps, then the ordered list would be the way to go.

Simply click on either the unordered list or numbered list icon and begin typing. Use the Return key to add a new entry to the list.

Insert Horizontal Ruler

The next icon with a horizontal line allows you to insert a line into your Question Note, which you can use to divide sections of your text such as dividing a title from the body of text. You can find this option on the second row of the Question Note toolbar and right next to the Text Alignment icons.

Not happy with the Question Notes formatting? If you're not happy with the format changes you've made such as bolded or italicized text and any custom alignment settings, or perhaps the format and style of any pasted text, simply use the Remove Format button to remove formatting changes you've previously made to your Question Note. This button is located on the second row of the toolbar.

Generate Question Notes with AI

If you’ve written your own trivia questions but didn’t add Question Notes to them, you can automatically generate a Question Note using AI. Our AI algorithm will analyze the trivia question and its answers and generate a fun fact or question note about the question. To generate a Question Note with AI, hover over the sparkles icon next to the Question Note and then click Write with AI as displayed below.

To successfully generate a Question Note, your question and answer options should already be completed before generating a Question Note for the algorithm to analyze the information.

If you'd like another version of the AI-generated Question Note, simply click Write with AI again and a new version will be generated.

Displaying Question Notes

When we're ready to display the Question Notes, we can trigger them to display from the Experience Dashboard using the Show Question Notes (N) Viewer Control toggle or by pressing the N keyboard shortcut.

Images taking up too much room? On mobile devices, participants typically ordinarily view a vertical orientation, which will automatically decreases the width of images and allow for more vertical space in your Question Notes.

Participants may also scroll down naturally to see the rest of the notes. However, larger images may push some of your notes off the screen when using the Presentation View. In this case, set a narrower width on your image(s) to have them take up less space.

Importing and Exporting Question Notes

For Classroom Plan subscribers and higher, you have the ability to export and import questions using a CSV file spreadsheet. Aside from importing and exporting questions and answer options, you can also import and export all your Question Note content! This is especially helpful if you would like to edit your Question Notes directly on the spreadsheet while editing the rest of your questions before importing and exporting any existing Question Notes for later import into a future Experience.
