X (Twitter) and Instagram integration update - As of January 2024, X and Instagram functionality is temporarily disabled due to API changes; however, our Development Team is working on restoring these integrations.
Enabling X (Twitter) and/or Instagram will allow your Social Wall to automatically query and pull in social media posts and images that contain your desired #hashtag and stream them to your Social Wall in real time as they come in! So if your event has a social media #hashtag like #MyAwesomeEvent2025, your crowd can post on their favorite social media app using your #hashtag, and your Social Wall will aggregate and display their posts in a constant updating stream!
What is the difference between a #hashtag and a @username? A #hashtag is a word or phrase preceded by a hash or pound sign (#) that is used to identify messages on a specific topic on social media sites like X and Instagram.
A @username is a user handle preceded by an @ sign that identifies messages authored by a given user or messages that mention a given user.

Do I have to use X and/or Instagram? Nope! You can use any combination of the available social media channels. However, you must enable at least one, or else your crowd will have no way to post to your Social Wall.
Enabling Crowdpurr Posts
You may have noticed the box right above the X section to Allow Posts From Crowdpurr, which is on by default. This allows your crowd to post messages and photos directly from their mobile device on the web using Crowdpurr. With this method, they simply need to navigate to crowd.live and enter your Social Wall's five-digit Experience Code located under the Crowd URL section on the Experience Dashboard.
This is useful if your participants do not have an X or Instagram account or perhaps don't want to post on their social media profiles to interact with your Social Wall. It's typically a good idea to leave this channel enabled.
Why isn't a #hashtag or @username needed to enable Crowdpurr Posts for my Social Wall? No #hashtag or @username is needed because your crowd will be posting directly to your Social Wall using its Experience Code. When using X or Instagram, you must specify a #hashtag or @username so Crowdpurr can identify specific posts that should be added to your Social Wall.
How Crowdpurr Aggregates Social Media Posts
If your crowd is posting using Crowdpurr, any posts will be published instantly to your Social Wall because your crowd is posting directly to Crowdpurr.
If you've enabled X or Instagram, Crowdpurr will query each social media channel approximately every five minutes. Each query will insert a maximum of four posts. Additionally, posts containing your #hashtag must be no more than 48 hours old at the time of querying to be added to your Social Wall. This is to prevent old posts containing your #hashtag from displaying and to keep your Social Wall fresh.
If you're not seeing any or very few posts containing your custom #hashtag, likely, there may not have been very many recent posts using the #hashtag. You should create new posts and encourage your crowd to post using your #hashtag to see a lot of posts. Enabling Allow Posts From Crowdpurr and adding some initial posts is also a good way to populate your Social Wall if there are not yet a lot of posts featuring your #hashtag.
Presentation View URL & Posting Instructions
After enabling one or all of the various social media channels, your Social Wall's Presentation View - what you use to display your Social Wall to your crowd - will update the URL automatically with any #hashtags, @usernames, and/or your Experience Code to inform your audience how to post to your Social Wall. You don't have to worry about adding your #hashtag or posting instructions to your Header Message. However, you can for more emphasis.
Social Wall's Presentation View displays posts from both X and Crowdpurr's web app
