What are KML, KMZ and Shapefiles?

KML and Shapefiles are file formats that are used to display geographic data in services like DecipherAg or Google Earth. In essence, it’s data collected about a specific area of land (like place marks, shapes and descriptions), which can then be displayed on a map in an accurate location.

A KMZ file is a zipped (or compressed) KML file, and a SHZ is a zipped/compressed Shapefile.
