Analysing Soil Sample Results
Updated over a week ago

To view your sample results, click on Samples in the left hand side menu.

The Soil tab allows you to view the results of your soil testing on the map. Results from any lab can be viewed, as long as they are first uploaded to DecipherAg.

The following Features are Decipher Plus and Biomass+ Users only. Other users will see their sample sites on the map. Clicking on them will open the tray with their sample results displayed,

You can use various filters to select which samples you want displayed:

  • You can select which farm/s you would like to view.

  • You can select whether you wish to see the single sites analysis, paddock averages or zone averages.

  • You can display select multiple seasons of soil results, allowing you to compare them graphically and see the variation in a site or a paddock over time.

  • You can choose which value ranges of the selected nutrient to display, which helps you identify and concentrate on, for example, the areas of low and marginal nutrients.

  • You can select which depths are displayed. If multiple depths are selected, the most recent result of the shallowest selected depth will be displayed. Switch the depths off in order to work your way down the soil profile.

Sites that have no results that match the selected criteria will not be displayed on the map.

Nutrients

You can select one of six nutrients to view on the map:

The default selection, which is the first nutrient that will be displayed each time you log into DecipherAg, is pH Level (CaCl2). You can change the default by clicking on the star to the right.

Criteria

You can select the ranges used to calculate the Low, Marginal, Sufficient and High values. There are preset categories that you can use, or you can create a custom category by clicking on the three dots to the right of the criteria drop down and selecting Add New Category.

You can change which category is your Default by clicking on the three dots to the right of the criteria drop down then clicking on the three dots to the right of the category and selecting Make Default.

Values

DecipherAg uses the Criteria you've selected above to rank the selected sample sites by the criteria you selected above using s traffic light system - Red for Low, Orange for Marginal, Green for Sufficient and Blue for High.

Charts

When you click on a sample dot on the map you'll expand the tray. This will default to the Charts tab, where you’ll be able to see graphs of all of the nutrient levels from a site, side-by-side. Your selected Nutrient will be the first graph shown on the left. You'll will be able to see up to ten years’ of sample data on each chart.

If you click in the paddock, rather than clicking the site, all the sites in that paddock will be charted together. Hovering over any site on the chart will highlight the site on the map, and on all the other graphs. This is useful for identifying the outliers.

The other tabs in the tray will show you the raw sample data for soil and plant sampling when present.
