To ensure the best possible results from CubiCasa AI photo editing and the CubiCasa Tour, it’s important to keep a few key behaviors in mind while shooting and uploading your images. These best practices are especially helpful for HDR bracketed shots but also apply to single-image uploads.
Capture Well-Balanced Images
For best results — especially when shooting HDR brackets — make sure your photos include enough exposure range without being overly dark or overly bright.
Avoid frames that are extremely underexposed or blown out unless you have a sufficient number of brackets to fill in the details
Well-balanced exposures give the processing system more usable detail and lead to more natural-looking results.
This guidance applies to both bracketed HDR sets but is most important with single-image uploads, since single images are also supported.
When shooting bracketed HDR images for AI editing, three brackets are typically sufficient as long as they provide good exposure coverage:
one underexposed image
one balanced exposure
one overexposed image
These three exposures generally provide enough range for the system to produce strong results.
What about Flash images?
We do not recommend uploading flash images due to the way the AI models process the source files. Capturing the scene with natural light and good exposure settings will typically result in the best finished files.
RAW vs JPG
We love RAW files and the system is more than happy to process them, but in many cases, JPG files work well for AI photo editing workflows. JPG images upload faster, avoid compatibility issues sometimes associated with RAW formats, and are typically processed more quickly by the model. As long as the exposures are well balanced, JPG files generally provide excellent results. Learn more about file types in AI editing
Understand How Photos Are Ordered and Named
Photos are processed and ordered based on their timestamp:
Primary: The photo’s capture timestamp (EXIF data)
Fallback: File name order (if no timestamp is present)
This order determines:
How photos are named during delivery
The sequence in which they appear in the final results
Tip: Keeping accurate timestamps on your camera, providing files with EXIF data, and avoiding manual renaming before upload helps preserve the intended order.
Maximum File Size
The maximum file size for the source photos is 100 Megabytes (MB). If photos exceed this amount the system will display a warning. If you encounter this limit, we recommend converting these files to a smaller format. The system works very well with JPG100 images. This is the recommended approach.
Photo Tour Defaults (Plus Packages Only)
If your order includes a Plus package, a Photo Tour will be created automatically unless you specify otherwise.
By default:
The first photo in the sequence (the oldest timestamp) is used as the initial image in the Photo Tour.
If you want a different image to lead the tour, you’ll need to explicitly select an alternative cover image during ordering or after delivery using the Tour Quick Edit tool.
