Getting started with Cuez Admin

A step-by-step first-login guide for organization owners - how to set up your organization, groups, workspaces, and invite your team.

This article walks you through logging in to Cuez Admin for the first time and completing the essential setup tasks before your team can start using Storydesk or Cuez Rundown.

Step 1 - Log in

  1. Cuez Admin has two regional environments: use admin.cuez.app for EU-hosted organizations, or us.admin.cuez.app for US-hosted organizations. If you're not sure which applies to you, check the URL you were given when your account was set up.

  2. You are redirected to the Kinde login screen. Kinde is the identity provider that handles authentication for Cuez Admin. The login screen looks different from the Cuez Admin interface, and this is expected.

  3. Enter your email and password, or use your organization's SSO if configured.

  4. After a successful login, you land on the Cuez Admin 'Dashboard'.

The Dashboard shows a summary of your organization: total members, groups, lists, media libraries, and news feeds. It also shows AI token usage and storage consumption for the current month.

Step 2 - Configure organization settings

Navigate to 'Settings' in the left sidebar. From here, you can set your Organization Name, upload an Organization Logo, choose a default Spell Check language for Storydesk scripts, and enable AI Story Discovery.

Step 3 - Create your group structure

Groups represent the logical units of your broadcast organization - typically stations, channels, regions, or departments. Everything else (workspaces, feeds, media libraries, members) is scoped under a group.

Plan your hierarchy before creating groups. Groups can be nested: a group can contain sub-groups, which can contain workspaces.

To create your first group, click 'Create Group' in the Quick Actions section of the Dashboard, or navigate to 'Groups' in the sidebar.

See Creating and managing groups for full details.

Step 4 - Create workspaces

Under each group or sub-group, create the workspaces your team will use: a Storydesk (for story planning and content creation) or a Rundown project (for broadcast playout). Select the group on the Groups page and use the 'Add Storydesk' or 'Add Rundown project' action.

See Creating and managing workspaces for full details.

Step 5 - Configure news feeds

Connect wire services or RSS sources so feed items appear in Storydesk for your journalists. Supported sources include Belga, Reuters, AP, and any RSS/Atom URL.

Feeds are configured per group, so make sure you have created at least one group first (Step 3).

Navigate to 'News Feeds' in the sidebar to add your first feed source.

See Setting up news feeds for full details.

Step 6 - Configure AI models

Add an AI provider API key so Storydesk's writing and summarization features work for your team. Without an AI model configured, AI commands in the script editor will not appear for users in that group.

Navigate to 'AI Models' in the sidebar to configure a model.

See Configuring AI models for full details.

Step 7 - Set up media libraries

Connect shared media asset libraries and assign them to groups so Storydesk users can browse and use approved assets.

Navigate to 'Media Libraries' in the sidebar to add your first library.

See Setting up media libraries for full details.

Step 8 - Invite your team

Once your group structure and workspaces are in place, invite your team members by email.

Select a group on the Groups page, open its 'Access' tab, and enter the email addresses of the people you want to invite, with a role. You can invite several people at once. This adds them to your organization and gives them access to that group in one step. Each invited user receives an email from Kinde with a link to set up their account.

To invite another owner, use 'Invite member' on the Members page instead.

After accepting, members see the Storydesk and Rundown projects in the groups they were added to. Group admins see a shorter Cuez Admin sidebar with 'Dashboard', 'Groups', and 'AI Models'. See Understanding roles in Cuez Admin for more on each role.
