Chyron NewsTicker™ is a branding and ticker content management system designed for broadcast news production. It offers management, control, and automation of all branding and ticker content, including headlines, election results, severe weather alerts, sports data, traffic reports and more.

Accessible via an HTML5 web-based interface, it is used by TV stations worldwide to control on-air tickers and lower thirds as part of their live news workflow. More information on their website.

Note: Chyron NewsTicker is a separate product from Chyron PRIME. If you are looking to integrate Chyron PRIME with the Cuez Automator, see this article instead.

In the top right corner of the Automator, we see 'Devices' - this can be either in red or green depending on the status of the configured devices. Click it and select 'Add device'.

Next, select 'Chyron-NewsTicker' from the 'Device type' dropdown list, then give it a name.

Once the Chyron NewsTicker device is selected and given a name, we will see all fields needed to configure it so it can be used with the Automator.

You can enter the following settings to configure your Chyron NewsTicker:

Once these settings have been entered, the device should show as 'online' (green) in the top right corner.

Note: Make sure the Chyron NewsTicker Broadcast page is accessible on your network from the machine running the Automator.

The next step is then to configure each Item and Block configuration with the (set of) functions you want to perform on the Chyron NewsTicker when triggering the Item or Block - more general information on that in this article.

The 'Ticker In' function puts a runlevel's CG on air. When configuring this function, the available options are read live from the ticker's Broadcast page. Configure this function with the following arguments:

The 'Ticker Out' function takes a runlevel's CG off air. Configure this function with the following arguments:

Note: The runlevel and CG dropdowns are populated live from the ticker's Broadcast page. If the dropdowns appear empty, check that the device is online and that the Broadcast page is accessible on your network.

Check that the Host and Port are correct and that the Chyron NewsTicker Broadcast page is reachable from the machine running the Automator. Confirm there are no firewall rules blocking the connection on your network.

The dropdowns are populated live from the ticker's Broadcast page. If they appear empty, the Automator may not be able to reach the page. Verify the device is online (green) and that the Broadcast page is accessible in a browser from the same machine.

Confirm the correct runlevel and CG are selected in the function configuration. If the device shows as online but commands are not being executed, check the Event Log in the Automator for any error entries.
