What are CuezDeck buttons in the Automator?

CuezDeck buttons in the Cuez Automator can be used to perform functions, or sets of functions, the same way you can configure functions in Blocks for example. Using these buttons allows you to easily trigger a set of actions on for example a vMix, using a button at the top of the Automator screen.

Where and how can I configure CuezDeck buttons?

Adding CuezDeck buttons

To add and configure CuezDeck buttons, go to the gear icon in the top right corner, then select 'CuezDeck buttons'. Alternatively, click the three vertical dots at the top of the Automator (towards the left) to open the CuezDeck buttons menu.

In both cases, the option to add a CuezDeck button appears, allowing you to add a new button.

Configuring CuezDeck buttons

The Automator supports three types of CuezDeck buttons:

  • Button:
A 'Button' type gives you the option to add functions, or sets of functions, that would need to be performed upon clicking the CuezDeck button at the top of the Automator.

  • Switch:
A 'Switch' type gives you the option to add three different functions, or sets of functions, that would be performed. A first option for when the switch is toggled to 'On', a second option for when it is toggled 'Off', and a third option for clicking the switch as a button.

  • Status:
A 'Status' type gives you the option to add functions that trigger based on a property of one of your (supported) devices, and updates the status of the button accordingly as well.

For each of these types of CuezDeck buttons the configuration that follows works in the same way as configuring other functions or sets of functions. Simply add an 'Automation' and configure which device and functions to perform when triggered.

CuezDeck button examples

Button

One example of a Button type CuezDeck button, would be to use it to quickly and easily cut to a camera. The configuration can be as easy as switching to the camera input in vMix, but can be as advanced as triggering a PTZ camera and setting it to a certain pan, tilt and zoom, all with a single click.

But Button type CuezDeck buttons can be used for a lot more than simply cutting to cameras of course. You can perform just about any action that you want to have under an easily available button at the top of the Automator.

Switch

One example of Switch type CuezDeck button, would be to bring in and out certain overlays. Think tickers, scoreboards, or any other part of your show that you'd want to easily enable and disable with the click of a button - or switch in this case.

Status

One example of a Status type CuezDeck button, would be to start recording your show on a device such as for example vMix. Unlike a Switch, which would be able to start and stop the recording, a Status type CuezDeck button can actually listen to certain properties of the connected device - this means that the Automator knows whether or not the device is already recording, and can adjust its status accordingly.
