Learn how to use Blackmagic Videohub with the Cuez Automator

Updated over a week ago

What is the Blackmagic Videohub?

The Blackmagic Videohub is a router that let you connect all your equipment. They allow you to connect and route any combination of SD, HD and Ultra HD on the same router at the same time. They have zero latency so are perfect for live production and broadcast! Ethernet is also included so you can remotely control the router using a range of external hardware or software control panels.

For more information about the Blackmagic Videohub, visit their website.

Adding a Blackmagic Videohub 'device' to the Automator

In the top right corner of the Automator, we see 'Devices' - this can be either in red or green depending on the status of the configured devices. Click it and select 'Add device'.

Next, select 'Blackmagic Videohub' from the 'Device type' dropdown list, then give it a name.

Once the Blackmagic Videohub device is selected and given a name, we will see all fields needed to configure it so it can be used with the Automator.

Basic device configuration

You can enable or disable the Blackmagic Videohub and you can enter the hostname. Once that setting have been entered, the device should show as 'online' (green) in the top right corner.

Configuring actions

The Blackmagic Videohub only has the function to route videos on the desired source and destination of your device.

You can configure the function you want to perform on the Blackmagic Videohub when triggering the Item or Block - more on that in this article.
