A Thaw Action represents the process of taking cells that are in a cryopreserved state, thawing them, and plating them on a new vessel at the start of a new cell culture.

Rules/ Behaviors

A Thaw Action will only be available on Culture Tracks that are started from cryopreserved cells. In other words, when creating a new Culture Track, the Starting Cell State must be set to Cryopreserved, as shown below.

A Thaw Action must be the first action that is taken with any Culture Track that is started from cryopreserved cells. This is true even if there is no Thaw Action specified in the Protocol Template. In this case, a Custom Thaw Action must be selected.

A Thaw Action cannot be selected or completed on any Culture Track that is started from live cells, even if there is a Thaw Action specified in the Protocol Template. In this case, the Thaw Action will be removed from the list of Actions to take in the Daily Actions view.

No other Actions can be completed for a Culture Track on the same day that a Thaw Action has been completed. It is assumed that the cells will require at least one day to adhere to their vessels or wells after they have been thawed and plated.

In order to complete a Thaw Action, the user is required to specify an Ending Vessel. This can be done by Adding a New Ending Vessel or Adding wells from an existing Vessel.
