CultureTrax has a feature-rich set of tools for comprehensively documenting your lab’s Materials. Materials in CultureTrax are either a Single Ingredient or Recipe. A Single Ingredient Material contains only one component (i.e. DMEM-F12) and a Recipe Material usually contains more than one Single Ingredient Material (i.e., hESC Complete Medium) and requires some preparation before use.

Create a new single-ingredient material

Material Information

Select Single Ingredient for materials that contain only one component. The Material Name, Supplier and Supplier Part Number are required fields. All other fields are optional. The Material Name does not need to be unique but it is good practice to check if the material already exists with a slightly different name (i.e., check if Essential 8 is already added as E8 medium). Enter an optional 'Description' to help you identify the material or add clarity.

Select Material Attributes

Material Type (required)

Selecting a Material Type from the drop-down list is like a 'tag' that can help you quickly find it later.

Add to Section (required)

You have the choice of sharing the material with other lab members (the material will be tagged with 'Lab') or keeping it designated for personal use. If you have a User account status you do not have this option and all materials you create will be for personal use only.

Other Material Attributes

Select “Xeno-free”, or “Stock” as an optional tag for your material.

Add Documents

Add an SDS sheet or material information sheet.
