The system warns when a group is tied

When the last group stage match is played in a group, the system reads the group table to determine which teams advance to the next stage (usually playoffs) of the tournament. If this is not possible due to tied groups, the system will warn you. The warning appears in the warning window in the bottom-right corner of the Results tab.

If there are no warnings, the warning section is automatically minimized, so you do not need to manually check for warnings continuously.

How to resolve a tied group

1. Click on the warning. The group details will open in a new tab.

In the view you can see the group table at the top (1) and all group matches at the bottom (3). In the example above, the system cannot determine the final standings because teams are tied. You need to tell the program the correct order, for example through a coin toss or other applicable procedure.

2. Click the Sort the teams manually... button (2).
3. A dialog box opens. Select Enter a fixed result order.

4. Enter the order in which you want the system to rank the teams in the group, for example based on the result of your coin toss.

5. Click OK. The system will update itself and remove the warning within a few minutes.

How is the group table calculated?

You can configure how the group winner is determined based on points, goal difference, head-to-head record, etc. Read more under Set up sorting for group tables.
