When you get a car insurance policy with Cuvva, we’ll usually ask you to take a quick photo of your vehicle 🚗
Why we need a vehicle photo
We ask for a photo so that we can see the vehicle’s condition at the start of your policy.
This helps us get the fairest possible outcome for you if you need to make a claim, and gives you total peace of mind.
How to take your vehicle photo
Follow these easy tips to make sure your photo does the job:
Take it from the front of the car. This gives us the clearest possible view of the car's conditions. We can’t accept photos taken from the back of the car.
Don’t stand too close or zoom in. Make sure the wheels, number plate, wing mirrors, windscreen, and bonnet (closed) are all visible.
Use the in-app camera. The photo must be “live” — we can’t accept old photos, screenshots, or photos of a photo.
Make sure it’s clear and well lit. Avoid blurry or dark photos. If it’s nighttime, use the flash. If you're struggling, switch on the car’s dipped headlights or interior lights for some extra illumination.
If your photo isn’t clear enough
Uploading a photo that doesn’t meet our requirements could affect your price or temporarily freeze your account.
Don’t worry, your policy won’t be cancelled and you’ll still be insured.
But if you needed to make a claim, unclear photos that don't show the car's original condition can make it harder to get you the fairest outcome.
If it keeps happening, you might eventually lose access to Cuvva.
Camera trouble? Try this
Phones can be unpredictable, so here are some quick troubleshooting tips.
If one of your phone’s cameras doesn’t work, try triple-tapping the screen to switch between cameras (ie from the front camera to the back or vice-versa).
If your phone has no working camera, you can log into your Cuvva account on someone else’s phone and take the photo there.
Book-ahead policies work a bit differently
If you’re booking a policy that starts in the future, we’ll ask where your trip will begin.
You won’t need to take a photo at that point, because your policy may not start for hours, days or weeks.
When the policy is about to start, we’ll usually ask for a photo. The car will need to be in the location you told us the trip would begin.
Just so you know: you won’t always be asked for a photo with book-ahead policies, so don’t worry if it doesn’t come up.
