When you have a temporary car insurance policy with Cuvva, the car is fully covered during your policy.
You do not need another insurance policy in place while your Cuvva policy is active.
This means you can use Cuvva for:
Cover between annual policies
Short-term borrowing of a car
What to know about insurance between drives
In the UK, Continuous Insurance Enforcement (CIE) means that a vehicle must be insured at all times, unless it’s officially declared off the road.
So while Cuvva covers you during your policy, the car must still be insured when your policy ends. You can't just insure a car when you want to drive it, and leave it uninsured in-between.
To use Cuvva properly:
Make sure the car is always insured when required
No gaps between policies
Only drive when you have active cover
What if the car isn’t being used?
If you’re not driving the car for a longer period and don’t want to insure it, you’ll need to register it as off the road (SORN).
With a SORN:
The car does not need insurance, tax, or MOT
You cannot drive or park it on a public road (except to a pre-booked MOT)
