Can I extend my policy?

How to add extra time to your Cuvva policy

Need more time behind the wheel? You can extend your temporary car insurance quickly in the app.

Just tap the Extend button on your active policy.

When you can extend

  • You’ll need to wait 5 minutes after your policy starts before extending

  • You can only extend while your policy is still active

If you’re driving, make sure you pull over safely before extending your cover.

How long you can extend for

You can usually extend by any duration that was available when you first bought your policy, up to the maximum (usually 28 days).

So if you bought a policy for 21 days, you'll probably be able to extend by another 7.

If you’re a learner driver:

  • The maximum total policy length is 3 hours

  • If you started with a 3-hour policy, you won’t be able to extend

  • If you started with 1 or 2 hours, you can extend up to the limit

How extension pricing works

The price of your extension is based on the same factors as your original policy, including:

  • Your age

  • Driving history

  • The vehicle

  • Time and location

If something changes, like your location, the price may change too.

Cancelling an extension

You can cancel an extension before it starts and get a full refund.

Once the extension has started, we usually can’t offer a refund.
