Want to lend your car to a friend or family member? No problem! We’ve made it nice and easy to help someone out - and also to earn a little something for yourself.

Here’s how it all works 👇

How to lend your car

With traditional insurers, lending someone your car can be a long process. Typically, you have to call up your insurer and pay to add the person as a named driver on your policy. It can be clunky and expensive - plus it puts your own policy and no claims bonus at risk if something happens when they're at the wheel.

Cuvva’s short-term car insurance, with policies starting from just one hour, is simpler and fairer. The person you’re lending to can buy their own ultra-flexible short-term policies for as long as they need, saving you all hassle and money. Plus it's a standalone policy, so you're completely protected.

Here’s a quick how-to guide for lending your car through the Cuvva app:

  1. Tap on the 'Your cars' tab on the Cuvva app homescreen.

  2. Add your car and verify it, if you haven't done so already

  3. Answer a quick privacy question

  4. You'll then have the option to charge borrowers a small fee (or you can keep it free). If you want to keep it free, all you need to do is click 'Add drivers' and share your car with your friend or family members

  5. If you want to charge a small fee, you'll then have the option to set this up before sharing your car as in the previous step

It’s that easy!

Complete peace of mind

Here’s some extra bits and pieces you might like to know:

  • Your no claims bonus is completely protected, even if your friend or loved one has an accident while borrowing your car. Your insurance won’t be impacted at all because they will be driving on their own policy.

  • All our policies are fully comprehensive. This means the driver and car are both covered, even if the driver is at-fault.

  • We're authorised and regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). In other words, we're fully legit.

  • Any questions? Our customer support team are on hand 365 days a year, from 9am to 9pm. Just drop them a message in the app or email support@cuvva.com.

  • You don't need extra cover. No need to call your insurer or worry about additional cover. The person you’re lending to can get insured on your car in minutes, all you need to do is give them the keys.

Happy driving! 🚗
