You can use your temporary car insurance to drive in the UK and across many countries in Europe.
The easiest way to check your cover is to get a quote in the app and review your policy documents.
Where you can drive
Your Cuvva policy covers you in:
The UK and Crown Dependencies
England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland
Isle of Man
Channel Islands
EU countries
Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden
Other countries
Andorra, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, and Switzerland
Depending on your policy, you may also be able to drive in Bosnia and Montenegro. You can check this in your policy documents.
Starting and ending your trip
Your policy must start and end in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland).
Make sure your policy lasts long enough for your full trip, including the return journey.
This also applies if you’re driving in Northern Ireland and travel to the Republic of Ireland.
Your level of cover abroad
In the UK, your policy is fully comprehensive
In Europe, it provides the minimum legal level of cover (usually third-party only)
This means:
Damage or injury to others is covered
Damage to your own vehicle is not
Using the app abroad
You’ll need to be in the UK to:
Get a quote
Buy a policy
Extend your cover
If you’re outside the UK, you won’t be able to make changes until you return.
Driving licence requirements
We accept UK and many international driving licences.
A quick note before you travel
You don’t need a Green Card to drive in Europe
Always check your policy documents for exact cover details
Try it in the app
If you’re planning to drive abroad, it’s always worth checking your cover in advance.
It only takes a few minutes to get a quote and see what’s included.
