Import your project documents to start collaborating on them. You can upload the files from your device or cloud file and project management source. You can also choose to sync folders from your cloud sources. You can store, search, and share imported files across the project.

Note: Accessing this functionality requires Admin account.

Getting Documents into DADO

Using DADO, you can import your files either by uploading them or syncing your cloud folders with DADO for automating the uploading process.

Sync Folders for Automatic Import

Note: Syncing connections work on 1 document type at a time. So, if the folder contains files of different types, you will need to delete those that do not fit the criteria from the Admin tab.

  1. Open the project you would like to sync documents to.

  2. Open the project's Settings page.

  3. Go to the Cloud Sync tab.

    • Alternatively, you can go to the Admin page of your project and click Sync Folders. Please do not use the Import Documents button in the Import Log to sync documents as this method will soon be retired.

  4. Click Sync Folders, which will start a 4-step process to set up a sync.

  5. In Step 1, Select the document type you would like to sync then click Next.

  6. In Step 2, Select the connector you would like to sync from, then

    1. If you're not logged in to the desired account for the connector, click Log In to [Connector Name]. A popup will appear to guide you through the login process for the connector. You must complete the process in order to give DADO permission to access your documents. Once you've granted DADO access to your cloud storage, click Select Folder to go to Step 3.

    2. If you're already logged in to the desired account for the connector, click Select Folder to go to Step 3.

  7. In Step 3, navigate to the folder that you would like to select by clicking the folder name. Once you've found the directory you'd like to sync, check its box then click Select.

  8. In Step 4, review your selections, and click Sync to finish the process. If you'd like to go back to make corrections, click Back.

After you've synced a folder, any new files added will automatically be added to your project in DADO and appear in the Admin page at 5am Eastern Time.

Upload Documents Manually

Note: Every time the file is revised, you'll need to upload it again.

To import manually, simply drag-and-drop files and/or folders from your desktop into the Documents, Admin, or Import pages of the project you'd like to upload documents to.

Where Imported Documents Land

The documents that company admins import in DADO go to the Admin tab with a status of Pending Review. You can treat Admin as your QC buffer zone, where you can make sure the right documents are shared with the field staff.

Only company admins can access documents with a status of Pending Review and publish them for the team. Regular members and mobile app users cannot interact with documents that are pending review.

To make the documents available for the whole project team, Mark them as Reviewed.

Supported File Types

You can import files in the following formats:

Documents

PDF, DOC, and DOCX

Images

BMP, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, and HEIF

Others

XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, TXT, CSV, and DWF

Note #1: Each file cannot exceed 300MB in size.

Note #2: All files are converted to PDF's while processing.

How DADO Organizes Documents

DADO categorizes documents by their type. When importing, make sure you assign them under the right category:

Category

Contents

Each file gets split into documents for each specification section, so you can find needed info easily. Uploaded revisions become versions to ensure an easy trail of changes.

Submittals

All submittal documents stored with their issue dates, statuses, and related spec sections.

Project (Contract) Drawings

Project drawings and plans stored with disciplines and combined in issue (version) sets. Uploaded revisions become versions to ensure an easy trail of changes.

Other Documents

Include any other project-related documents to this category. For example, meeting minutes, RFI's, safety manuals, and more.
