The PDF download feature has the option to create a custom naming convention for your exports, located in the Template Editor.

Step-by-Step:

  • Navigate to the Template Editor for the Template you wish to customise (available both at the Home Folder level, or for templates created at the Team Folder level)

  • Navigate to the 'Settings' section in the Template Editor

  • Scroll down to the 'Download Settings' option and locate 'Custom PDF Filenames in PDF Downloads'

  • You'll see a preview showing you our default settings:

    [downloaddate-filepath-templateID-formcounter].pdf
  • Our default settings string the filename with the following variables:

    • Date the export was downloaded

    • Filepath in Dashpivot

    • Template ID for the template being exported

    • Form Counter

  • Click the 'Edit PDF Filename' button with a pencil icon

  • An edit modal will pop up on the screen

  • Here you can select how you want your filename to be arranged, by clicking the dropdowns

  • You can select from these options:

    • Created by

    • Created date

    • Download date

    • File path

    • Form counter

    • Project Folder name

    • Team Folder name

    • Template ID

    • Template name

    • Workspace name

  • These settings will default to 4 variables in the string, but you can reduce this to a minimum of 1 variable if you'd like a simple filepath name, or a maximum of 10 variables

  • While you are editing the settings, a preview will update in the modal to see what your filepath will look like when downloaded

  • Once happy with your settings, click the green 'Save Changes' button at the bottom of the popup modal

Note: if you are changing the settings on a template in the Home Folder, the settings will apply to all folders the template is deployed to. If you are changing the settings for a template within a Team Folder, they will only apply within that folder.
