A comprehensive guide designed to enhance your understanding of field display configurations when downloading forms as PDFs. Below we delve into the details of hiding fields for PDF download, exploring key elements such as header/footer settings, list item colours, and the selective display of multiple-choice list items. Gain valuable insights into how these settings impact the visual representation of your downloaded PDF forms, ensuring a seamless and customised experience tailored to your specific preferences.

Header/Footer View Display

As a general guideline, if certain fields are not visible on the form, they will not be included in the PDF download.

Additionally, the content displayed in the header and footer of the PDF download is contingent on the template settings for those forms. If the fields within the header/footer are deactivated or not configured to display in the template's header/footer settings, they will be excluded from both the form and the downloaded PDF.

You can find the header/footer settings in template editor below;

Hidden Fields

In the template editor, you can locate the option to hide fields in PDF downloads within the settings of each individual field. When this option is enabled, the field remains visible in both the template editor and form view, however, it becomes hidden during the PDF download process.

Additionally, in the form view, the setting is also clearly indicated through the message 'Hidden in Form PDF downloads,' appearing below the respective field name, providing a visual cue for the status of the field in the PDF download.

List Item Colour 'none'

When a manual or linked multiple-choice list item is assigned the colour 'none,' it will be highlighted in the form as light grey when selected, but will appear on the PDF download without any colour.

Similarly, if a manual or linked dropdown list item is assigned the colour 'none,' it will be have no colour on display when selected in both the dropdown on the form and the PDF download.

Selected Multiple Choice List Items

The presentation of selected multiple-choice list items varies between the form and the PDF download views. In the PDF download, only the selected list items will be visible, providing a concise representation. On the other hand, within the form itself, all list item options will be displayed, with the selected items highlighted in their respectively assigned colours for enhanced visibility and user interaction.
