Download the template from the study settings. Always start from this file rather than building your own.
Fill it in from your randomization plan, using Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
Upload it back into Datacapt.
What each column expects
Column | Format | Notes |
| Integer | As defined in your randomization configuration. |
| String | If your abbreviation is a number, check it is still stored as text and has not been converted to an integer. |
| String | Only needed if you stratify by labels. Holds the option labels of your variables, with one column per stratification variable. |

â ď¸ Warning: spreadsheet editors change your data without telling you. Excel on the desktop and Numbers on Mac both convert formats automatically, and the classic failure is a center abbreviation such as 01 being silently turned into the number 1.
Check the format of every column against the table above immediately before you save and upload, not when you first fill the file in.
