Editing data on Datamars Livestock cloud software

Change or delete data in a session file and re-upload to Datamars Livestock

Updated over 4 years ago

Datamars Livestock does not currently have the ability to edit or delete animal data directly, however there are a number of ways to fix up incorrect data that has been uploaded:

  • Fix the data on your Tru-Test device (the best option).

  • Edit the data in a spreadsheet on your computer.

  • Upload a new session file to fix existing Life Data.

Fix the data on your Tru-Test device

This is the best option and requires familiarity with your Tru-Test device to work with recorded sessions. The steps outlined are:

  1. Find the session file with the incorrect data on your Tru-Test device

  2. Change or delete the incorrect data

  3. Delete the session file from Datamars Livestock

  4. Re-upload the session file to Datamars Livestock

This ensures that data you have saved against the animal is correct both on your device and in Datamars Livestock.

To change Animal IDs use the Retag option on your Tru-Test device. This will write an Animal Note into the old ID so Datamars Livestock can find and update the existing animal with the new ID.

Not all Tru-Test devices have the ability to edit data. The next best option is to edit the session file on your computer.

Edit data in a spreadsheet on your computer

If it is not possible or practical to edit data on your Tru-Test device, edit the session file in a programme such as Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

  1. Download the session file from the Sessions screen in Datamars Livestock

  2. Open the session file on your computer and change or delete the incorrect data

  3. Re-upload the session file to Datamars Livestock

Changing Animal IDs

In order to change an animal's ID Datamars Livestock needs to know the old ID so that it can correctly find the animal and update it.

Add a column called Animal Notes and add the ID change in this format:

VID changed from "14003"

  • First value is the name of the ID field in Datamars Livestock (it must match exactly)

  • Second value is the old ID of the animal which exists in Datamars Livestock.

You can then update the animal to have the new ID in the ID column (e.g. the VID column) and re-upload the file.

Upload a new session file to fix existing Life Data

If there isn't a specific session file you want to download and fix, you can also upload a completely new session file to fix the data, as long as the data is showing as Life Data in Datamars Livestock.
