You can set the gestation length of animals. The gestation length will vary, depending on the breed of animals and other factors so you should set it to best reflect the average gestation length of animals on your farm.
The gestation length will be used to determine the animal's expected calving date from last insemination date or the last pregnancy check with 'days in calf' recorded.
The default gestation length is 283 days dry before calving, but this can be modified in the web app, if required.
Notes:
The Gestation Length can only be configured in the web app, not the mobile app.
You can only configure the gestation length if you have admin permissions.
In order for the expected calving date to be calculated accurately, the animal's insemination date or pregnancy check with 'days in calf' must be recorded in the database. Each time an animal is inseminated or pregnancy checked, this should be marked as an event.
To configure the gestation length:
Click on Farm Settings, Reproduction then Edit reproduction configuration.
Modify the Gestation Length to set the number of days between between an animal's last insemination date or pregnancy check and their expected calving date.
Click Save reproduction configuration.
