You can calibrate 'Find My Cow' to adjust the sensitivity when it is searching for animals or missing active tags.

For example, if you are using 'Find My Cow' with cows in head-locking gates, you could adjust the sensitivity so that the lines show as green when you are within 1 m (3') of an animal. However, if animals are in cubicles and you can't get very close to them, you may want lines to show as green when you are within 2 m (6').

It is important to calibrate your phone before using 'Find My Cow'. This is because every farm setup is unique and each model of phone will work slightly differently. Once you have calibrated your phone, it should not need recalibrating again unless you want to change the sensitivity.

Before you start, you will need to choose an animal to use for calibration purposes. This should be an animal you can easily see and get close to.

To calibrate 'Find My Cow':

1. In the main menu, tap on Find My Cow to go to the Find My Cow screen.

2. Activate one or more active tags.
​Note: Find My Cow must be looking for one or more active tags before you can begin the calibration process.

3. Tap on the 3 dots in the top right-hand corner of the screen, then Settings and Start Calibration:

Find My Cow will display a list of activated animals close to you. Decide on an animal to use for calibration purposes and position yourself at the distance you want it to be when the lines turn green (e.g. if you want the lines to turn green when you are 1 m (3') of an animal, position yourself 1 m (3') from the animal.

​Tip: make sure you are on the opposite side from where the active tag is (e.g. if the animal has an active ear tag in its right ear, stand on the animal's left hand side).

4. Tap on the calibration animal's ID, then Start Calibration.

5. After 10 seconds, the calibration will be complete. Click Done then Save.

The app will now only show green lines when you are the newly selected distance away.
