📝 Overview
3D Secure (3DS) authentication is a two-factor verification method used by banks to confirm the legitimacy of card transactions. This article explains how 3DS works and what to expect during checkout.
✍️ Note: DaySmart Vet and Dash have been updated to accept 3D Secure (3DS) authentication transactions through Stripe.
🔐 How 3DS Works During a Transaction
During a user-initiated transaction, a 3DS confirmation will appear that you can verify with the customer.
The customer will need to confirm the transaction via a notification from their bank.
⚠️ Important Note: Since 3DS requires the customer to be present to accept the confirmation, cards that require 3DS for recurring automatic transactions (such as Wellness Plans) will automatically fail and be marked as a failed payment. The clinic will need to follow up on these failed payments.
