This article covers how to update your company's business information, including your business name, legal name, DBA name, and company addresses. All of these updates are made from the Profile tab in the employer account.


βš™οΈ Business Name & Legal Name

Your business name (also referred to as the DBA name) and legal name can both be updated from the Business Info section of the Profile tab.

β›” Important: Your legal name must match exactly what is on file with the IRS. A mismatch can result in failed screenings, rejected filings, or rejected payments. Double-check your entries before saving.

  1. Navigate to the Employer Profile.

  2. Select the Profile tab.

  3. Find the Business Info section and click Edit.

  4. Update the Business name (DBA name) and/or Legal name as needed.

  5. Click Save.


πŸ“ Company Addresses

Keeping your company addresses current is essential for accurate tax payments and filings. You can add new addresses or edit existing ones from the Employer addresses section of the Profile tab.

β›” Important: Your filing address must match exactly what is on file with the IRS. A mismatch can cause failed screenings and issues with tax payments and filings.

  1. Navigate to the Employer Profile.

  2. Select the Profile tab.

  3. Find the Employer addresses section and click Edit.

  4. To add a new address, click Add a new address.

    1. Enter the address information and select the address type.

    2. Click Save.

  5. To edit an existing address, click Edit on the address you want to update.

⚠️Important: You cannot reassign these address types by editing the existing address directly. Add the new address first and assign the type there. The designation will automatically transfer from the old address to the new one.

  1. Click Add a new address.

  2. Enter the new address information.

  3. Select Default work location, Filing address, or Principal address as the address type.

  4. Click Save.

Where do i go to update my company's business name or legal name?

What is the difference between the Business name and the Legal name?

The Legal name is your company's official registered name as it appears with the IRS. The Business name is your operating or DBA (Doing Business As) name, which may differ from your legal name.

Why does my legal name need to match the IRS exactly?

Your legal name is used for tax filings and screenings. If it doesn't match IRS records, it can result in failed screenings, rejected filings, or rejected payments.

Can I update my filing address by editing the existing address?

No. To change which address is designated as your Filing address, Default work location, or Principal address, add a new address and select the appropriate type during setup. The designation will automatically move from the old address to the new one.
