Why Decaf Doesn’t Require a Memo for Stellar Deposits

Updated this week

Unlike many Stellar wallets, Decaf is 100% non-custodial — meaning each user has their own unique Stellar address.

Other platforms often use shared custodial wallets, where all users deposit into the same Stellar address. In those cases, a memo is required to identify which deposit belongs to which user.

With Decaf, there’s no need for a memo because you are the sole owner of your wallet and its private keys.

Your Stellar address is yours alone, so any funds sent to it go directly to your wallet — no memo or manual sorting needed.

This makes Decaf simpler, safer, and fully in your control.
