Charging an electric vehicle (EV) might seem straightforward, but several factors can cause issues. Here’s a clear and simple explanation of potential problems and their solutions.
1. Access to the Charging Site
a. Private Site: Registration Required
If the charging site is private, you must register with the site administrator. They will need to add your RFID badge or email address to the list of authorized users.
b. Private Site with Payment
If the site requires payment, you must add a valid payment method or recharge via the DejaBlue app after registration.
Note: it is possible that your private site requires using a professional email and your personal email might not work as a result.
2. Connection Issues
Ensure the charging cable is properly connected to both the charging station and your vehicle. A faulty connection will prevent the charging process from starting.
3. Payment Method
Check that your payment method is working and that you have sufficient funds. Sometimes, a card may be declined if there are not enough funds to authorize the transaction.
4. Vehicle Settings
Some EVs are configured to accept charging only during specific time windows (e.g., off-peak hours). In such cases, the vehicle itself prevents the charging session from starting.
