Commute Happiness

Understanding key metrics in Delve

Updated over 2 years ago

Commute Happiness

The percent of estimated pedestrian and bike trips passing within 3 meters of parks and other green spaces. A higher percentage means the distribution of land use incentivizes travel along or across green spaces.

How is Commute Happiness calculated?

Streets in Delve can have sidewalks of specified widths assigned along them. The Delve design space is subdivided into cells that have different uses assigned to them upon generation- some of these cells end up being street sidewalks, some green spaces and some parking lots! Delve draws pedestrian paths along the street sidewalks between buildings and their closest amenities.

To calculate Green Pedestrian Trips, Delve computes if each of the cells of the pedestrian paths have a green space cell adjacent to it. The total Green Pedestrian Trips is equal to the number of pedestrian path cells that have a green space adjacent to it divided by the total number of pedestrian path cells.
