Energy Use Intensity (EUI) for the site considers the amount of energy used per unit area annually. EUI indicates energy efficiency for a floor, building, or master plan. The EUI of a building can be influenced by climate, equipment, and lifestyle. It is frequently used before and during the design process to set a benchmark and sustainability goals for energy performance.
How is EUI calculated?
EUI varies with building type. Delve uses regional standards combined with the gross floor area by program to formulate a weighted mean for the estimated EUI on the site.
Some use types, like schools and community buildings, are assumed to have an office-like EUI and emissions. Use types labelled as "OTHER" are excluded from EUI calculations, as the energy usage and corresponding emissions can vary widely based on program.
Energy use intensity is calculated based on data from the Google Environmental Insights Explorer and the Climate Action for Urban Sustainability (CURB) tool.
