How Delve allocates dwelling units and apartments

Delve generates customizable units within Residential and Hotel program

Updated over a year ago

Delve allows for the generation of unit-sized allocations within generated buildings with Residential and Hotel use types present. These units are used to generate additional metrics about the generated development, including unit performance, cost and value modeling, and access analysis.

Unit outlines are exported within both the exported 3D Rhino file and the 2D DXF files available from Delve.

Generation and Placement

Delve includes algorithms for placing double-loaded units along a central corridor. This unit placement mechanism is used within high and medium-density Residential buildings. Additionally, Delve offers external access generation, which can be used for lower-density residential programs such as townhouses and single-family homes.

External Access Generation Example:

External Access Generation:

Unit Type Properties

  • Name - Used for identification and colorization of the resulting units

  • Min Area - The minimum area for the generated unit type in the unit system specified within the project

  • Percentage - Percentage of total units that should be allocated for the unit type

  • Occupancy - Number of people intended to occupy the generated space

Default Settings

  • 1-Bedroom

    • Percentage - 50%

    • Min Area - 500 sqft (46.5 sqm)

    • Occupancy - 1

  • 2-Bedroom

    • Percentage - 50%

    • Min Area - 700 sqft (65 sqm)

    • Occupancy - 2
