Export a KMZ file to view in Google Earth Pro

Download and view your Delve designs in 3D in the Google Earth Pro desktop app

Updated over a year ago

You export designs options generated in Delve's yield and highest-and-best-use studies as a KMZ file, so that you visualize your 3D buildings in Google Earth Pro. KMZ files generated by Delve will contain:

  • 3D buildings, colored by use type

  • Automatic geolocation to match your site's real-world location

To export a KMZ file from Delve

KMZ files can be accessed from the download menu for a new design using the Download for Google Earth Pro (desktop) option.

  • From a design's scorecard on the Explore page, select the overflow menu and go to the Download option.

  • Or, from a design's Details page, select the arrow next to Download Data.

  • After reaching the menu, select Download for Google Earth Pro (desktop).

A KMZ file should be downloaded to your computer. If you don't see the option to download a Google Earth Pro file, you will need to create a new study to get the option.

To view a KMZ file in Google Earth Pro

You'll need the Google Earth Pro desktop app to view KMZ files. If you don't have Google Earth Pro, you can install it by following these instructions.

After installing Google Earth Pro, opening a Delve-generated KMZ file will automatically show the 3D model! You can do this by double-clicking the KMZ file, or using the File > Open option in Google Earth Pro.

Tips

KMZ files with 3D information will only display in the Google Earth Pro desktop app, and not Google Earth online. Learn more about KML and KMZ file support in Google Earth here.

Delve-generated KMZ files only contain 3D buildings and do not contain parks, streets and other features. KMZ files viewed in Google Earth Pro will be superimposed on the Google Earth Pro map.
