How To Use Design Folders

Design Folders help you keep your projects organized inside DesignFiles. You can group moodboards, floor plans, and renders by room, phase, or round of revisions — so nothing gets lost.

1: Open a project.

  • Go to your Designs pages from the Project Dashboard

  • On the right side of the page, you will see the "Add New" button. This is where you can either add a new design board or design folder.

2: Make a new folder

  • Click Add New → Design Folder.

  • Type a folder name — for example, “Living Room,” “Round 2 Revisions,” or “Lighting Plan.”

  • Click "Create Folder".

  • 3: Move your designs

Option 1: Bulk move designs by clicking the check box on all the designs you want to move into your folder.

You will see a panel at the bottom of the Designs page that shows how many designs you've selected and a folder icon with a plus sign.

Click the folder icon to move the selected designs to a folder.

After clicking, a message will pop up asking which folder you want to move your designs to.

Once selected. Click "Move Designs"

Option 2: Click the 3 dots on any design to open options, including "Move to Folder".

That’s it — those designs now live inside your folder.
You can click into the folder anytime to view them.

4: Move or fix mistakes

If you put something in the wrong folder:

  1. Go inside the folder.

  2. Click the three dots (⋯) on the design board you want to move.

  3. Choose Move to Another Folder or Move to Project Level.

6: Share designs with your client

When you click Share with Client:

    1. You’ll see all your folders (and individual designs).

    2. Only folders that have designs in them will appear.

    3. Click into a folder and turn the toggle ON to share all designs inside — or select specific ones.

    4. Write your message, then send.

💡 You can share the whole folder with your client while still keeping draft boards within it private.

7: Deleting a Folder Without Losing The Contents Within It

If you delete a folder that still has designs in it, you’ll delete:

  • All the boards inside it

  • All messages and approvals linked to those boards

To avoid that:

  1. Open the folder first.

  2. Move all the boards out (back to the main project or another folder using the same actions 4: Move or fix mistakes).

  3. Once it’s empty, click the next to the folder name and choose Delete Folder.
