Welcome to DesignFiles! While we are thrilled to work with you, we understand that it is not ideal having to move over all your old information to a new one. We created this guide to help make it as quick and easy as possible.

Step 1: Export Contacts and Vendors

Click on Contacts in your main navigation bar

You will see an option to import your contacts and vendors from a CSV file

Step 2: Create folders for each of your projects (this will require upgrading)

Click on the New Project button on the right side of your DesignFiles landing page

Create a new project for each client you want to carry over

Step 3: Once you’re in one of your new, blank client projects, start uploading all documents for that project under the “attachments” portion of the project folder. You can upload both documents that can be visible to your client, or hidden from your client

Step 4: Upload any moodboards, floorplans, etc., into your project folder by clicking “Add Design” and choosing Moodboard/Roomboard

Once you are in your blank Moodboard, go to the products panel on the right side of your screen. Click on Library. This is where you can upload items from your desktop and where all your clipped products will appear.

Under your Library panel, you will see 3 Options: Library, Project Items, and Assets. If you want your project-specific uploads to stay within this project instead of your general product library, click on Project Items, then click upload (you can also drag & drop multiple files or copy/paste).

You will then be prompted to drag & drop or select files from your computer.

Select all the designs you want to add to your project. Once uploaded, you can include any details you

want, and drag an upload onto your moodboard

Once all product images are uploaded, click save.

Drag one of your uploaded images onto your blank Moodboard and adjust the size to your liking, then click save. Repeat the process for all other uploads

Step 5: It’s best to speak to your bookkeeper about how you want to handle transferring over invoices. One option is to create an invoice for the total amount of an old invoice you have downloaded to your attachments. You will want to keep it as a draft if you have already recorded it in your bookkeeping software. You can copy each invoice verbatim, or use the total amount and save it with the save ID so you can reference it.

Step 6: Start rebuilding your library
